As a paralegal with Rust-Oleum, you'll be responsible for supporting the RPM Consumer Group legal team located at our Corporate Headquarters in Vernon Hills, IL, as well as the team at DAP Global Inc. located in Baltimore, MD.
This is an individual contributor role within a small legal team that provides comprehensive legal support to a growing business with an international presence. The position reports to the VP and General Counsel for the RPM Consumer Group and is based in Vernon Hills, IL.
What you will be doing:
- Work with internal and external counsel and business teams to handle day-to-day legal matters and inquiries.
- Assist with the preparation/review of various types of contracts on behalf of Consumer Group business units, including non-disclosure agreements, contract manufacturing, supply agreements, equipment leases, and other contracts in support of business strategies and obligations .
- Assign incoming contract matters based on business, volume, priority, complexity and subject matter.
- Liaise with business partners to answer questions about processes, matter status and other legal inquiries.
- Support case management of litigation and other types of disputes, primarily assisting with discovery.
- Maintain corporate contract management process. Provide reminders to associates and ensure completion of tasks by due dates as docketed.
- Assist with brand protection and other intellectual property matters including trademark and patent evaluation, prosecution and clearance.
- Obtain appropriate legalization from governmental entities for foreign documents.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies; Post-Baccalaureate paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program or Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies
- 2-4 years as a Paralegal in a corporate or law firm environment
- The ability to prioritize daily activity in a fast paced, evolving environment where you will work with multiple tasks and businesses.
- Initiative and willingness to learn, along with being comfortable with a variety of work.
- The ability to build cross functional relationships and trust through responsive service to multiple internal customers.
- Work independently or within a team and collaborate with all legal department team members, as well as RPM company legal teams, when necessary.
- Proficient in standard office software such as Microsoft 365 suite.
- Detail oriented with superior organizational skills and ability to follow through with commitments.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally within a corporate environment.
