Summary: Law office is accepting resumes for an open full time paralegal, legal assistant, or social worker position. Our growing law firm will hire an ambitious, enthusiastic, independent, motivated, self-driven, paralegal, legal assistant, or social worker who has excellent work ethic, superb attention to detail with high character and integrity, and who is looking to be part of a successful, dynamic, expanding law firm.

Responsibilities: Drafting legal documents and legal pleadings; researching statutes and court cases and writing legal briefs and memoranda; reviewing and analyzing documents and records; interviewing prospective clients; using case management software and entering contemporaneous time activity; maintaining client case records and reporting performance statistics in a complete and timely manner; participating in staff meetings, training seminars, and community activities.

Required education, skills, and abilities:High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Sixty (60) hours credit from an accredited college or university preferred. Two (2) years relevant work experience may be substituted for college credit. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred, not required. While performing the duties of this job you must have the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle or feel; ability to occasionally stoop, lift, and move up to ten pounds; ability to talk and hear; ability to look at and see a computer screen and read words up close; ability to use a computer, Microsoft office, case management software, and enter time activity.

Compensation: Compensation depends on performance. We offer autonomy, freedom, professional office space, and friendly and cooperative attorneys and staff. $12 to $22 per hour.

· Gather all needed documentation from clients for the processing of Medicaid and VA applications.

· Prepare Medicaid and VA applications.

· File Medicaid and VA applications along with the required supporting documentation.

· Ensure applications are submitted timely.

· Follow up with THHS regarding the status of pending Medicaid applications.

· Monitor and manage the Medicaid applications and VA applications.

· Send letters to nursing facilities upon the firm being retained, application for benefits being filed and application being approved for benefits.

· Send letters to clients upon the firm being retained, application for benefits being filed and application being approved for benefits.

· Send additional requested documents to the THHS upon request.

· Send additional requested documents to the VA upon request.

· Speak to clients on a normal basis to keep them updated as to the status of their pending Medicaid or VA applications.

· Assist with answering phones when needed.

· Call life insurance companies, annuity companies, banks and investment companies on client's behalf in order to obtain the needed information.

· Contact Business Office Manager's to obtain resident entry information, Medicare information, and current balances and to confirm whether or not the resident has a patient trust fund.

· Prepare cover letters to be sent to the VA with the application packet.

· Prepare asset spreadsheets and case summary reviews.

· Assist attorney to prepare memorandum and evidence for Medicaid Appeals

· Submit requests to re-open to THHS for closed or denied Medicaid applications.

· Submit appeal requests to THHS for any wrongfully closed or wrongfully denied Medicaid applications.

· Assist attorney and clients with preparing and implementing strategies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $22.00 per hour
