GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for performing cleaning duties for Tremont Street Garage with cashiering responsibilities as needed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Cleans garage, office, stairwells, and elevators.
• Removes debris such as loose paper, cans and bottles throughout garage area and stairwells.
• Empties trash receptacles in garage, office, bathrooms, and replaces with fresh bags.
• Using cleaning solvents, cleans bathrooms including sinks and commodes.
• Replenishes supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, and soap) as necessary.
• Using gas powered sweeper, sweeps and cleans front entrance area of garage.
• Cleans elevators by shining chrome, spraying walls and washing floors.
• Collects parking tickets and refunds appropriate change especialy during peak periods.
• Answers garage patrons' requests for information courteously.
• Performs other related duties when requested by supervisor

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Ability to read, write, count and speak basic English, as well as follow basic instructions.
• Ability to drive and operate sweeper machine.
• Ability to operate cash register and count money: Attention to detail necessary when handling money and giving change.

EDUCATION:

• High School diploma or GED preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• One to two months on the job training.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Exposure to all types of weather conditions, dirt and dust.
• Contact with Medical Center staff and general public.
