Chamberlain College of Nursing is seeking part-time Faculty with interest and availability to teach online and complete occasional Clinical Practicum site visits at a variety of Oregon locations for students in our Master of Science - Family Nurse Practitioner specialty track.

Clinical Practicum site visits and courses of instruction typically align with:
NR-511: Differential Diagnosis & Primary Care Practicum
This course will provide students with the fundamental knowledge needed
to formulate a differential diagnosis of individuals within the primary care
setting, along with an introduction to critical diagnostic skills to cultivate
evidence-based behaviors. An emphasis will be placed on processing client
information in a logical, progressive manner and formulating differential
diagnoses for individuals across the lifespan. The course will include
125 hours of supervised clinical practicum in primary care.
NR-601: Primary Care of the Maturing & Aged Family Practicum
This course continues to expand the knowledge of health-assessment
principles specific to the role of the FNP with a focus on the common
health problems and healthcare needs of the middle-aged and older adult
and family. The student will explore, analyze, apply and evaluate chronic
health conditions frequently encountered in the primary care of older adults.
Students will further develop their skills related to patient education,
protocol development, follow-up and referral through a clinical practicum
experience in a precepted primary-care setting.
NR-602: Primary Care of the Childbearing & Childrearing Family Practicum
principles specific to the role of the FNP, with a focus on the healthcare
needs of women and families throughout reproductive and childrearing
years. Students will further develop their skills related to health promotion,
prevention of illness, diagnosis and management of health problems
commonly experienced. Care strategies will include patient education,
protocol development, follow-up and referral through a clinical practicum
experience in a precepted primary care setting.
NR-603: Advanced Clinical Diagnosis & Practice Across the Lifespan Practicum
This course continues to expand the theoretical and practical knowledge
of diagnostic principles specific to the role of the FNP for the healthcare
needs of individuals of all ages. Students will further develop their
skills related to health promotion, prevention of illness, diagnosis
and management of complex acute and chronic conditions, including
behavioral health. Care strategies will include patient education,
protocol development, follow-up and referral through a clinical
practicum experience in a precepted advanced practice setting.
NR-667: FNP Capstone Practicum and Intensive
The student will synthesize all elements of clinical management skills
and knowledge and continue to analyze, apply and evaluate diverse
aspects of patient assessment and healthcare intervention. This precepted
clinical practicum will be with an approved provider in an advanced
practice setting. Focus topics include clinical management skills, case
studies, chart reviews and practice critique, with a capstone product
evidencing increasing complex clinical management skills. At the end of
this course, the student will be prepared for entry into clinical practice
providing primary healthcare across the life span after first passing the
national certification for the family nurse practitioner. An on-ground
intensive review session occurs during this course.

- Conduct site visits, potentially at multiple clinical practicum locations, throughout the region, typically once per 8-Week Session per site. Visits are typically 1-2 hours.
- Teach part-time online in our MSN FNP program, inspiring students to complete their programs by providing regular, meaningful feedback about their academic performance, development and participation while encouraging them to engage fully in their education
- Engage students in meaningful asynchronous threaded discussions at least 4 days per week, moderating participation, evaluating responses and rationales, and responding to questions or comments
- Evaluate academic progress and comprehension of course content through assigning and grading quizzes, exams and writing assignments
- Exhibit Chamberlain Care⢠by displaying behaviors of care, respect and professionalism, creating a culture that fosters collaboration, cooperation and respect among all
- Be readily available to meet the needs of a student body that is diverse in age, culture and academic preparation
- Identify and embrace opportunities to enhance student engagement by reaching out to students in need and responding quickly to requests for help
- Bring your professional experience to life through professional development, introducing industry perspective into courses and sharing information about nursing trends and opportunities with students
- Promote student success by demonstrating flexibility in style, schedule, and exhibiting your passion for teaching by devoting time and energy to improve scholarly excellence and subject matter expertise
- Foster a positive learning environment by maintaining accurate records, submitting grades on time, and enforcing academic policies
- Use appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
- Model effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.

Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.

Ensure that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.

Complete other duties as assigned.
- MSN and DNP or PHD in nursing degree required
- Must have an active unencumbered OREGON RN nursing license
- Must have an active unencumbered OREGON APRN nursing license
- FNP national certification through the AANP or ANCC required
- Must have reliable transportation with availability and willingness to travel to a variety of clinical practicum sites throughout the region, typically one site visit per 8-Week Session for each designated location, typically during weekday/daytime hours
- A minimum of 2 years teaching experience, preferrably at the graduate level; online teaching experience highly preferred.
- Must have required subject matter expertise in the course of instruction.
- Faculty must have excellent communication, motivational, and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
