We are looking for a Parts Coordinator– Operational Services to reduce the turnaround time of mobile equipment while it is in the shop for scheduled or unscheduled services. The coordinator will contact vendors for parts, prices and availability, and order parts from the vendors from information received including creating notifications/work orders. As parts arrive the coordinator will help delivery driver unload parts from the delivery truck and verify the parts are the correct ones. The coordinator will “kit” the parts for upcoming scheduled work and stage parts for future scheduled work. The role will have accountability for the Mine, Concentrator, Tailings, Smelter, Refinery and General Plant Facilities.

Reporting to the Operational Services – Supervisor Mobile Maintenance and working in a diverse team within Rio Tinto, you will be:
- Monitors working practices and adherence to safety procedures to ensure safety of employees working in the area
- Perform continuous improvement on assets to maximize the life-cycle of our assets.
- Hot shot parts needed to finish schedule and break in work
- Process returns and cores
- Keep inventory of stock parts
- Gather information on parts for material numbers and to build BOM’s
- Create material numbers
- Update material numbers
- Update BOM’s
- Follow up with PO’s
- Ensure all invoices are received through the DC
- Maintain/build vendor contact relationships
- Use variety of vendors to maximize source of supply
- Attend all planning meetings
- Support planners with parts availability for scheduling
- Process invoices for offsite services
- Work with vendors ensuring we are using the appropriate parts
- Look for “improvement” parts (heavy duty)
- Fill in for KOS supervisor when needed
- Extensive stakeholder engagement and management skills.
- Understand reliability principles and life cycle.
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- A High school diploma or GED
- 3+ year of experience in parts ordering for mobile equipment within a maintenance or manufacturing or a related field
- 2+ year of prior leadership experience or leading contractors and vendors
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Prior experience working in a Collective Bargaining Agreement environment
- Bachelor’s degree

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903, and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
