Dixon Automatic Tool, Inc. is a family-owned business founded in 1946 and are located in the south-east side of Rockford IL. We design and build automated assembly machinery with close tolerance tooling and construction, along with OEM and outside “job shop” work.
We are looking for a skilled Parts Inspector to fill a Full Time or Part Time position.
We currently operate Doosan, Fadal, Milltronics, and Mazak CNC machinery, MasterCAM, Solidworks, G-Code, and Mazatrol software/languages. We also perform low volume machining and secondary operations on manual mills, lathes, and drill presses. Small to large weldments, fabrications, machine bases and risers are made by our welding department.

Primary Responsibilities
- Inspect low volume machined and fabricated parts to their design specification
- Perform First-Piece inspections for the Machinists and CNC Operators
- Read Routing Instructions, Interpret Blueprints 2D & 3D Models
- Work with Engineering Staff on design and manufacturing issues
- Work with Machinists and CNC Operators to develop best machining practices & corrections
- Perform inspection checks of parts to specifications
- Manage direct and in-direct time efficiently
- Keep work area clean and safe; maintain inspection tools and equipment
- Work with and train other employees to build Team capability and cross-training
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience inspecting machined parts
- Solid knowledge of materials, machining and secondary processes as coatings, hardness, & straightening
- Skilled in use of CMM, hand gauges, micrometers, pin gauges, hardness testers
- Excellent math skills, spatial-understanding and awareness
- Solid knowledge of ISO9001-2015 quality processes, tracking, reporting, and corrective action
- Knowledge of GD&T ( Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing )
- Personal Integrity, Attention to Detail, Pride of Workmanship, excellent work habits
