Job description
: The Pastry Cook will be responsible for preparing pastries, desserts etc. per menu specifications of the Pastry Department and maintain the highest standards of food quality, cost control, and consistency.

  • Implement operating standards for the Pastry Department. Maintain product specifications as determined by the Executive Chef
  • Prepare desserts, pastries etc. per menu specifications. Must work on line and execute recipes
  • Properly store products and ensure they are fresh. Check inventory regularly and rotate products in accordance
  • Interact with other department personnel and restaurant staff as needed
  • Ensure health and safety laws are followed always and that sanitary conditions are maintained at the highest levels
  • Report to the Executive Chef and Corporate Pastry Chef any maintenance or repairs needed
  • Attend mandatory meetings, including staff meetings, pastry team meetings, and meetings with Corporate Pastry Chef
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Maintain compliance with Hakkasan’s policies and procedures, as well as city, state, and federal laws
  • Assists and/ or completes additional tasks as assigned

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of one (1) year pastry experience required
  • Qualifying certificate in food protection preference
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • 21+ years of age
  • Possession of or the ability to possess all state/venue required work cards
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company standards
WORKING KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Thorough knowledge of restaurant operations including foods, and service techniques
  • Considerable skill in math and algebraic equations using percentages
  • Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously to perform essential job functions
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve problems
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods

  • Work indoors and exposed to hot and/or cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors
  • Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds and smoke, the severity of which depends upon guest volume

  • Hours may be part-time (less than 30 hours per week)
  • Schedule could exceed 30 hours per week and may include overtime when approved by management
