Position Summary
The Patient Account Representative (PAR) is responsible for providing a personal and unified effort to assist patients with questions they might have regarding their accounts. They are responsible for providing a more comprehensive method of maintaining and monitoring patient accounts, specific accounts assignment and regular report analysis.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Responsible for telephone and walk-in inquiries regarding billing and insurance related matters.
• Assists with coding and error resolutions, with direct participation with management and other staff members to resolve accounts.
• Works accounts receivable.
• Post payments from patients and collects co-pays through cash, check and credit card.
• Prepares/approves any adjustments to accounts providing detailed explanation.
• Handles changes in patient information relating to registration information including insurance/guarantor information.
• Conducts patient interviews, securing prepayments for treatment, and/or arranging financial agreements prior to services being provided.
• Maintains appropriate records concerning inquiries, account resolutions, etc.
• Assist with all pre-certifications, etc. in regards to patient accounts as needed.
• Responsible for follow-up of denied claims and alerts management of any problems in a timely manner
• Maintains patient and practice confidentiality.
• Maintains professional demeanor at all times with patients, caregivers, physicians and coworkers.
• Provides coverage for receptionist during lunch.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications*

• Education (Including Licenses and Certifications):* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: One to two year experience in a medical office setting is preferred. CPT and ICD-10 coding experience highly desired
