This position is responsible for identifying and facilitating financial solutions based on the patient’s coverage and need. This position collects patient liability amounts and provides patients with an understanding of the billing and insurance processing of their healthcare services. Manage both hospital and physician accounts in all systems and understand in depth Hospital and Clinic billing functions that are necessary to resolve accounts, as well as understanding collections practices, bad debt and our Attorney General agreements.
Responsibilities/Job Description:
  • Work independently in problem solving with patients regarding their accounts in both hospital and clinic billing situations to secure reimbursement for services.
  • Counsel the patient on the complexity of the interdependency between hospital and physician billing within the patient’s continuity of care.
  • Initiate Deferral Process for all unsecured accounts.
  • Utilize a high degree of proficiency with payer rules and regulations to assist patients with understanding their coverage and options.
  • Screen and qualify patients for Fairview Financial Assistance programs and public medical assistance programs using the established guidelines and ensure patients are properly instructed and educated on completing the application process. Determine level of application support needed and refer to next level for additional support.
  • Generate estimates and provide a finalized estimate to customers. Offer pre-payment options to the customer and processes payment collection.
  • Understand and focus on key performance indicators.
  • Timely and accurate work
  • Contribute to the process or enablement of collecting expected payment.
  • Understand and adhere to Revenue Cycle’s Escalation Policy.
Qualifications:
Required
  • Three or more years of experience in a customer service role with 6 months to 1 year experience in hospital billing and follow-up experiences

  • Preferred
  • Two or more years of experience in healthcare customer service.
  • Two or more years of experience in hospital or clinic business office.
  • Two or more years of experience in healthcare collections
