Job Summary: The Hemodialysis Tech II position will coordinate with the Clinic Manager and Charge Nurse in the training process for all newly hired and existing staff members. The Hemodialysis Tech II is responsible for assisting all clinical floor training that teaches and integrates UH policies, procedures and dialysis theory for the treatment of ESRD (End-Stage Renal Disease) patients for all dialysis clinical floor position.

Direct Patient Care: PCTs work under the supervision of a RN, direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment.

Technician Duties: Monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup.

Building long-term relationships with your patients who are suffering from end stage renal disease and are receiving treatment on average 3 times/week. You will also be responsible for educating patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.

TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, blood, and other bodily fluid borne diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to clinical environment.
  • Nurse is required to wear protective clothing as needed per infection control’s universal precautions.

PCT II Qualifications:

  • Desire to enter the health care field to care for other people in need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a PCT with at least a year of experience in hemodialysis within the last 24 months
  • Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) is required within 18 months
  • Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card
  • Must be comfortable working around blood and needles
  • Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb
  • Flexibility and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet so wear comfortable shoes! Our work ends when it’s safe for our patients.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
