Department Overview

The Payment Ops Manager II manages and oversees operations of several functions or processes within Payment Operations. The job typically oversees multiple processing sites, processing high volumes of transactions and executing large numbers of customer work flows. The Payment Ops Manager II may be responsible for the management of processing platforms and related technologies.

Job Description

Depth & Scope:

Manages operations of several functional areas and processes within Payment Operations and is fully accountable for an entire segment/site of department
Directs the study and establishment of new and revised systems, procedures and methods that are used in or have an effect on operations activities under the incumbent's administrative control
Participates in the development and implementation of comprehensive strategic plans and provides leadership and corporate vision for areas of responsibility
Develops effective methodologies to monitor operational goals, project plans and successes with management staff
Recommends and implements the achievement of process enhancements
Develops relationships with management of internal and external functions/departments to enhance productivity of managed units
Develops overall operational plans for assigned areas of operations
Participates in the development of strategic operational plans and lead the implementation of plans
Coaches and develops employees; ensures performance management activities are undertaken and completed for all employees
Leads the performance management process, supporting Employees in their personal and performance development
Develops and manages the team by recruiting, training and coaching
Acts as a leader within their department and conveys corporate vision to managed Employees

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent to Bachelor's degree required
7+ years' experience required
In-depth knowledge of principles, policies, and practices related to operations
Knowledge of SWIFT, FED payment structure and Clearing House (CHIPS)
Familiar with Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) rules and regulations as well as Dodd Frank 1073 Reg E
Proven leadership, delegation, coaching, and mentoring skills and proven ability to make sound long and short term business decisions
Proven ability to resolve operational issues and conflicts
Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills
Proven problem/conflict resolution skills
Demonstrated ability to develop long range and strategic plans for operational areas based on Company objectives
In-depth knowledge of relevant banking and regulatory rules and policies
Proven ability to balance competing priorities and make sound decisions within, and outside of, established policy
Proven ability to develop new policies and procedures in response to, and in anticipation of, changes in the business and regulatory environment
Operational management experience specific to the section of operations managed is required
Exemplifies strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrates flexibility in terms of adapting their communication style to better meet the needs of the individual or group they are communicating
Understands the personal drivers of each team member and leverages them to increase engagement and overall performance
Articulates clearly where they are going, why, and how they are going to get there so employees understand how their work aligns to the vision
Encourages team work and cooperation amongst others to develop a high performing team with common vision and goals
Creates a positive and ethical work environment
