Reporting Relationships
The Payroll Assistant reports directly to the Payroll Manager.
II. Basic Function
Payroll Assistant duties and responsibilities include preparing payroll data for biweekly payroll processing. Assisting management with correcting time tracking data. Analyzing and reporting data to present meaningful conclusions to various departments. Assisting with various accounts receivable and accounts payable processes. The Payroll Assistant is responsible for confidential and time-sensitive material. The Payroll Assistant will be familiar with a variety of Finance department needs, practices, and procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate via phone, Teams chat and email ensuring that all Payroll Assistant duties are completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals within tight deadlines.
III. Essential Functions
A. Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, email, and written documents.
B. Ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously.
C. Must be able to consistently adhere to strict timelines.
D. Collect and analyze employee time data, schedules, and management input.
E. Resolve requests from employees related to payroll.
F. Provide payroll data reports for management.
G. Must have excellent attention to detail.
H. Must have the ability to critically think and identify errors in payroll data.
I. Must be able to perform basic accounting functions such as preparing invoices, receiving payments, and navigating accounting software.
J. Perform other duties as assigned.
IV. Qualifications
A. Education/Experience
1. Associate degree or equivalency in technical training or experience.
B. Skills/Aptitudes
1. Familiarity and adherence to TAM policies and procedures.
2. Must be able to apply learned knowledge to the job.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Should have strong attention to detail.
5. Must display integrity, honesty, initiative, perseverance, flexibility, teamwork, and empathy.
6. Must be proficient on a computer and on the internet.
7. Working knowledge of ADP payroll and time tracking system and/or NetSuite accounting software a plus.
8. Should have prior experience with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
9. Must have a prior understanding of basic payroll concepts and wage calculation.
10. Should have a basic understanding of accounting processes.
11. Must have the ability to make independent decisions on a daily basis, addressing the best way to handle specific tasks.
12. Must be organized and able to coordinate projects while prioritizing appropriately.
13. Must have excellent administrative skills such as completing paperwork, reports, and other projects in a timely manner.
14. Must have reliable transportation.
C. Physical and Mental Requirements
1. Must have command of the English language and be able to speak clearly to convey information to business contacts and other TAM employees over the phone and in person.
2. Requires ability to work with numerous interruptions, distractions and changing priorities.
3. Must be able to sit for at least eight hours a day.

Salary: $50,000.00 Annual

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Tempe, AZ: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Experience:
- Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
- Payroll processing: 1 year (Preferred)
- Accounts receivable: 1 year (Preferred)
Work Location: One location in office. Not remote.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
