We are currently looking for a Payroll Coordinator. This position will be based in our Westport, CT office. The Payroll Coordinator will be part of the payroll team compiling, recording and processing employee time and payroll data for all domestic employees on a bi-weekly payroll period.
Responsibilities:- Compile payroll data such as PTO, garnishments, vacation time, insurance, 401(k), retroactive pay calculations, new hires, tax questions and other deductions.
- Contact various team members for any missing timesheets and resolve discrepancies.
- Calculate overtime according to state rules.
- Process transfer of time data from Deltek to Workday Payroll system.
- Communicates with Human Resources Department to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, termination, transfers and rate changes. Makes updates as necessary.
- Process special payrolls including annual bonuses.
- Research and resolves questions from managers and employees as they relate to payroll processing.
- Process offcycle checks such as terminations and discrepancies.
- Process stop payments or adjustments of payroll.
- Review benefit invoices and fund them in a timely manner.
- Ensure that computing, withholding and deductions are done accurately.
- Knowledge of wage and hour laws.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Perform other duties that are reasonably associated with the above essential functions and additional duties assigned by supervisor.
- 2-3 years' of payroll experience required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Workday HRIS and Payroll system experience preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Intermediate skill level with Excel.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently.
- Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic.
- Ability to demonstrate good common sense and sound judgment.
- Strict confidentiality a must.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions.
- Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours; possibly work weekends or evenings.
- Ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment.
- Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction.
- Apply knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the relevant industry.
- Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
