Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385 bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department.
Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

GENERAL DUTIES:

The perinatal technician performs specified OB duties inclusive of surgical technician, patient care, and clerical skills. The PNT assists the professional nurse or physician to provide the appropriate care in the laboring and /or operative period. Access to demographic information and limited Patient Health Information as related to job function.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1yr OR Scrub Tech Experience required

The Perinatal Tech’s duties shall include, in addition to the above, the ordering of supplies, stocking of rooms and supply carts and assisting the nurse during deliveries when not otherwise engaged.

• Obtains information and interprets information in terms of the patient’s needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development.
• Understands the range of treatment needed as appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
• Recognizes equipment malfunction and facilitates repair
• Orders supplies using the appropriate order system
• Follows infant safety and security program
• Provides for all activities of daily living as directed
• Prepares delivery tables and sets up rooms for delivery
• Assists the physician at delivery
• Maintains cleanliness of surgical suites assuring they are ready for emergency procedures at all times.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and uses sterile technique
• Always wears personal protective equipment.
• Maintains knowledge of all surgical procedures routinely performed on the perinatal unit.
• Maintains adequate supplies in labor and delivery and the OR suites and assures all meet regulatory requirements.
• Scrubs in for all surgical procedures routinely performed on the perinatal unit.
• Maintain standards set and documents accurately as required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

High School Diploma or GED

Current American Heart Association BLS certification

Ability to function in a dynamic/high stress environment; good verbal communication skills; training as a scrub technician.

Pay range: $21.74 - $29.21 an hour

Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
