In this position, you will be responsible for supporting Personal Lines staff in processing work efficiently using the agency management system. You must be able to communicate on a daily basis with staff, insurance companies and clients using company websites, e-mail, fax, mail, telephone or in-person. This job also assists with administrative duties and clerical tasks. This position is full-time with all of Gunn-Mowery’s employee benefits applicable including our excellent benefits package; medical/dental/vision, 401K, LTD, STD, AD&D, paid holidays and a generous time-off policy. This position can be held in any of our four locations – Lemoyne, Lancaster or State College.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS IN THIS CENTRAL PA ROLE:
- Reviews applications for insurance coverage, and other information to determine if application is acceptable for the program(s) available.
- Evaluates the experience of a risk against the class of business under review.
- Prepares quotation for producers and answers from them as well as policyholders, or prospect.
- Review policies for renewal consideration.
- May rate policies or check previous rated policies for proper rating.
- Utilizes knowledge of automated systems to develop information for new and renewal policies.
- Reviews request for cancellation, endorsements etc.
- Request additional documentation necessary for the processing of an application, endorsement, or cancellation.
- Enter and/or research information into computer system.
- May need to do outside evaluation and inspections
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May visit insurance carriers.
- May be required to attend seminars for education/training as needed to ensure job skills meet the changes in technical and business demands.
- Present a professional and business appearance.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Education and Experience: Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to five years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Good familiarity with computers.
- Strong oral and written communications.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong technical knowledge.
- Strong collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted carrier(s) underwriting.
- Good Innovation (Judgement/Decision Making) skills.
- Certificates, Licenses, registration: must be or becomes a property and casualty insurance licensed agent.

Jamie joined the Gunn-Mowery team as their marketing executive in 2016, after previously working as an event coordinator for the Central Penn Business Journal and the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association. As the Marketing Executive, she is the main point of contact for external communications, community relations and media inquiries. She takes pride in enhancing the Gunn-Mowery brand, including the website, social media platforms, design and marketing campaigns. Jamie is a member of the Leadership Harrisburg Area Community Leadership Series Class of 2019 and is the Chair of the Gunn-Mowery Upside of Giving committee. She attended West Chester University of Pennsylvania where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications
