POSITION SUMMARY
Optimal Imaging is seeking a PET/CT Tech to Performs computed tomography procedures to produce imaging using PET/CT technology to assist physicians with formulating a medical diagnosis, while complying with safety and regulatory requirements. Specifically conduct computerized tomography exams and document clinically appropriate results for interpretive physician and records.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides PET/CT services in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Ensures operational excellence and quality of care in the Facility.
  • Demonstrates use of proper positioning to produce quality imaging.
  • Maintains quality of imaging services in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all equipment to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.

o Utilizes information and skills necessary to perform assigned maintenance responsibilities.
o Demonstrates startup procedures, calibration of equipment, and troubleshooting.
o Demonstrates knowledge of using hardcopy devices, film-processing equipment, written and/or other recorded formats, and archiving.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.

o Utilizes radiation-monitoring devices at all times.
o Performs proper radiation safety precautions to include providing protection and inquiring if females of child bearing age are pregnant.
o Semi Annual inspection of the radiation protection devices, under fluoroscopy CT or by plain film.
o Conducts exams in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.

  • Demonstrates continued competence in caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing developmental perspective.

o Demonstrates an understanding of each age groups cognitive, physical, motor/sensory adaptation, and radiology specific intervention.
o Appropriately modifies approach to patients based upon patient age utilizing a developmental perspective.
o Provides appropriate interventions related to safety issues.
o Asses for FDA approval for age groups and specific dosing of contrast media.
o Considers cognitive states in patient education.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and documented competency of power injector contrast administration, contrast reaction venipuncture, aseptic technique, universal precautions, documentation skills, etc.
  • Documents services provided in a thorough and effective manner.

o Collects appropriate clinical history and correlates findings with procedure being performed.
o Maintains daily patient logbook.
o Initials and checks orders.
o Maintains all documentation in accordance with diagnostic division policy and procedure manual.

  • Utilizes time effectively.
  • Adheres to established facility/departmental safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

o Demonstrates competent usage of proper body mechanics in all activities.
o Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies administrator/designee.
o Completes all employee/patient incident documentation in a thorough and timely manner, as required by facility policy.
o Demonstrates complete understanding of established emergency procedures for department and facility.
o Practices infection control and standard precautions as instructed or trained.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned by administrator/designee.
  • Promotes effective working relationships to meet the mission/goals and objectives of Premier Radiology and the clinic.
  • Seeks consultation/collaboration for complex issues or when unsure.

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Successful completion of a radiology program at an accredited school
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists RT(N)required, R.T.(R)(N)(ARRT) preferred
  • State licensure where required
  • BCLS required
  • One to three years of radiology technologist experience preferred
  • One to three years of experience as a PET/CT technologist preferred
  • Must have competency in venipuncture, aseptic technique, universal precautions and documentation, contrast administration, and use of power injector
  • Must be able to effectively respond to incidents of contrast reaction and extravasation
  • Utilize PET/CT equipment to produce images
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to exercise judgement and make decisions
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate with patients, physicians, clients, coworkers, and management staff
  • Ability to perform in a high productivity, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to document accurately and concisely
  • Excellent phone and computer skills
  • Ability to maintain sensitive information in confidence
  • HIPAA and OSHA knowledge

Pay: From $38.00 per hour
