Description
SummaryWorks under the general supervision of the members from the Pharmacy Leadership Team. The person in this position supports pharmacy technology and helps to maintains the functionality of appropriate EMR and various software and is involved in testing, implementation and maintenance. Works collaboratively with various departments. The system analyst is responsible for report writing to analyze various business areas within the pharmacy department.
Education and Experience
Required - Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business or Healthcare emphasis
OR
8 years of equivalent and relevant work experience may be considered
Required: Pharmacy Experience
Preferred: Health informatics/information systems
Certification/Licensure
Full Pharmacy Technician License issued by the State of MI (Preferred at hire, may obtain through employment
Key Competencies and Skills
Exceptional computer/information system skills are required including Excel, Word, and various billing software.
Ability to learn new software and implement/build them as they become available for increased billing efficiency is required.
Above average communication skills include proper written and verbal use of English
Essential Duties
- Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills with ability to independently recognize and analyze problems, prioritize tasks, develop and implement solutions and meet tight deadlines.
Possesses knowledge of Operating Systems (MacOS, Windows, Windows Server Environments).
Understands common technical terminology.
Demonstrates knowledge of healthcare operations and has an interest in seeking an understanding of the larger picture of healthcare operations.
Optimizes software efficiencies and develops best practices.
Serves as the key point person and product expert for pharmacy software solutions.
Interprets vendor technical requirements and collaborates with vendors to implement fixes, new software releases, and product upgrades/enhancements.
Performs software implementation and/or upgrades including all testing and troubleshooting necessary for successful rollout.
Proposes new procedure and software enhancements to Pharmacy and Information Systems leadership as necessary.
Monitors, troubleshoots and resolves, medium complexity issues using established procedures.
Adheres to proper systems security protocols at all times.
Builds scheduled and ad hoc reports to help facilitate decision-making.
Trains and supports pharmacy staff.
Formulates backup processes and disaster recovery procedures for downtime readiness.
Participates in committees as assigned.
Possesses knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations.
