Salary: $15.00 - $20.25/hour, depending on experience

Pharmacy Assistant Position Overview

Provides and ensures an ongoing and efficient pharmacy department under the direct supervision of pharmacists by assisting in the distribution, collection of patient information and billing of medications. Maintains a neat and clean work area and performs functions necessary in the daily routine of the pharmacy department. Must have the ability to triage duties.

Pharmacy Assistant Responsibilities and Expectations

Assists the pharmacist answering phones, responding to customers.
Assists in distribution of medications to all patients and nursing units / patient care areas, using automated pharmacy technology as required.
Prepares medications pursuant to orders/prescriptions using the pharmacy management system. This function includes documentation of packaging, pick-up, sorting, counting and return of items to inventory.
Assists in the preparation of controlled substances for dispensing by pharmacists in accordance to State, Federal and Departmental Regulations.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Required:
High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:
One year experience in a health care setting
One year personal computer experience
Completion of High School Algebra or equivalent
