Nature of Work:
This is an opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) position at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. The person hired will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support at the BDC.
Supervision Received:
This position reports to Senior Instructor Theresa Cox. Supervision will include training and oversight for the position’s responsibilities. The position is part of the Pediatric clinic team and the employee will be expected to assist the staff members within that section.
Supervision Provided:
No supervision of others is required of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position requires interest in patient care and administrative tasks, the ability to be self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as well. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Practicing excellent HIPAA compliance.
- Data entry/approval of prescription requests received via fax, e-scripts and MyChart in Electronic Medical Record.
- Completion of all prior authorization requests.
- Meet with pharmaceutical representatives and supply companies weekly to discuss coverage.
- Answering phone calls to troubleshoot issues for patients/families and from pharmacies with professional customer service.
- Supervise and assist with completion of diabetes devices and supplies re-order forms by pharmacy assistant.
- Supervise and assist with completion of diabetes device referrals daily by pharmacy assistant.
- Maintain professionalism as a customer service representative for the pharmacy department.
- Maintain inventory of insulin samples and supplies.
- Attend meetings with pharmaceutical company representative to brainstorm solutions to improve coverage and access to diabetes technology.
- Guide Quality Improvement projects in pharmacy department.
- Provide pharmacy related information to patients/families during weekly classes.
- Uphold ethical and professional guidelines when interacting with drug and supply reps.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Current, valid certification or provisional certification as a Pharmacy Technician from the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy.
- One year of related work experience as a pharmacy technician.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with medical professionals is desirable.
- Electronic Medical Record and medical terminology knowledge highly desirable.
- Spanish fluency high desirable, but not required.
Working Conditions:
Position requires Monday-Friday hours based on clinic hours of operation. The position will be located at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes on the University of Colorado at Denver Anschutz campus in Aurora, Colorado.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or the hiring range) for this position has been established at $39,890.16 to $43,990.56.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
