The mission of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories is to provide quality diagnostic laboratory services to improve health outcomes within the communities we serve.

This exciting Technical Assistant position will float between our Beavercreek, Austin Landing, and Jamestown Emergency Department locations.

Part-Time Shift Available:
Night: 10pm-6:30am

Position Summary: Perform various tasks in assigned laboratory departments to assist technical / pathology staff accurately and efficiently generate test results. These tasks may include, but are not limited to phlebotomy, specimen handling and preparation, quality control, instrument maintenance, as well as testing and reporting. This position will float to the FSED location with the greatest need.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Float between all FSED labs as well as Core to the location with the greatest need. Work location will not be fixed and can vary from day to day or within the shift. The shift worked will be fixed with opportunities to work outside of scheduled shift if need arises.
  • Perform waived and moderately complex testing as defined by CLIA.
  • Perform and reports testing and quality control according to established protocols, including evaluation of specimen acceptability.
  • Perform routine and advanced maintenance and set up of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Operate laboratory instrumentation independently including troubleshooting and scheduling of field service calls, as deemed necessary, following the directions of department laboratory professionals and pathology staff.
  • Understand all menu pathways of local computer system as it pertains to assigned job function including but not limited to instructing technical staff on advanced computer functions as acquired through previous company positions.
  • Handles client related questions and concerns in a courteous and efficient manner following department policies and procedures including the scheduling of complex testing.
  • Perform phlebotomy, specimen handling, control and tracking functions, which may include the handling of potentially infectious / carcinogenic materials.
  • Comply with all company, department and regulatory policies and procedures which include compliance and safety protocols.
  • Track inventory and order supplies as needed for day to day department operation.
  • Handles problems appropriately and exhibits good judgment.
  • Performs and records all quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates the results of quality control and implements corrective action within scope of training.
  • Recognizes instrument and equipment malfunctions.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree preferred in Natural Science/Allied Health or current enrollment in Medical Laboratory Science program.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Physical demands and work environment:
  • Hand-finger dexterity to prepare and test specimens
  • Must be able to use telephone to respond to client calls.
  • Comprehension of verbal and written directions.
  • Concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
