ABOUT THE JOB:

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are looking for a Plant Director for our Salt Lake City, Utah beverage manufacturing facilty. In this role, you will be responsible to oversee all aspects of plant operations, starting with Safety and Quality, while meeting all local, country, business unit and Danone operating and strategic goals for Danone North America’s Horizon Organic premium dairy manufacturing plant located in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will be responsible for oversight of the overall results of the facility while improving the manufacturing KPI's and continuously improving plant operations while fostering a proactive work culture inside a fast-paced non-unionized food manufacturing plant facility, with approximately 120 employees. The primary mission is to meet our customer’s demands while maintaining the industrial facilities in compliance with the food safety, quality, reliability and environmental conditions required by Danone.


Secondly, the nature of this facility is food manufacturing which creates the need for a plant director who is both operationally driven and business savvy. The position has direct contact and influence with sales, procurement, finished goods, inventory management and COGs management. This position has a direct line to the VP of Manufacturing and maintains a strong relationship with other corporate functional leaders.


Responsibilities include:

  • Be a visible and active leader who promotes a favorable and productive environment for all associates
  • Drive growth and change in a fast moving, high energy environment
  • Develop and maintain positive community relations related to all aspects of plant interactions: waste water treatment/ utilities interactions, noise abatement, employment, expansion planning, etc.
  • Develop and implement the plant's operating strategy that is aligned with Danone’s growth and improvement strategies. This includes developing long and short-term performance metrics.
  • Developing and driving strategic and operational plans to support new product / existing product development
  • Support and ensure compliance of the facility with all Environmental, Health and Safety programs, policies, regulations and with food safety, quality, and reliability conditions
  • Ensure the highest level of commitment to quality to provide assurance all products are produced, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards.
  • Own implementation of the TPM Leadership Pillar.
  • Measure, track and maintain the controls and reports necessary to evaluate plant costs, quality and service level necessary for more efficient and effective operations
  • Maintain lines of communication to all associates on company policy, suggestions, concerns, complaints and other issues defined by the company. Implement necessary programs and procedures to promote and ensure open communication
  • Develop and maintain a strong local talent pipeline and prepare succession planning for all positions.
  • Promote and ensure positive employee relations.
  • Improve the manufacturing performance KPI's.
  • Promote a one-team approach with sales and marketing. This includes but is not limited to sales and customer visits, attending industry conferences, additional meetings and conference calls.

Job Dimension

  • Key contribution is to oversee manufacturing in the Salt Lake City, UT factory (approximately 120 associates and 3 production lines) with 8 direct/indirect senior staff reports.
  • Member of the Operations Leadership team with direct influence on Danone US Strategic Team members.
  • Mobilize the organization towards the achievement of Ideal Factory goals and Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature end game KPI's, through the proper execution of projects and capacity planning.
About you

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a bachelor's degree in business or engineering or a related field with at least 10 plus years of leadership experience within a manufacturing environment, required.
  • You have experience managing numerous direct reports, and experience with budget and cost management
  • You have excellent project management experience, with strong influential ability and ability to interact successfully with all levels of management.
  • You have strong problem solving skills; ability to make decisions with limited information and to handle uncertainty and change.
  • You are process-oriented; able to identify process improvements and implement change successfully.
