SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be responsible for leading all physical plant maintenance functions for the Streck facilities. This includes monitoring the daily operations associated with building equipment maintenance and grounds upkeep.
The position will assist in the planning, overseeing, and coordinating activities concerned with development, design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facilities. The position will be responsible for following current, and updating as needed, standards and policies for the installation, modification, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles and safety regulations. Additionally, quality control and testing activities will be executed in collaboration with related departments.
This position, in a hands-on capacity, will coordinate, with the Facilities Manager, the seamless management of building and production equipment, utilizing all direct reports of the engineering/maintenance department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
- Provide supervisory direction and support for building maintenance staff.
- Develop and motivate direct reports to optimize their performance and personal/professional growth. Responsible for providing employee evaluations according to company policy.
- Assist in the interviewing and hiring of department personnel.
- Act on employee issues and concerns in accordance with set policies and procedures.
- Establish and monitor maintenance work schedules. Approve and schedule vacations, sick leave, and overtime, maintaining support for business operations.
- Participate in the review, update, and approval of all documentation pertaining to areas of responsibility. Provide direct training for all procedures and processes associated with areas of responsibility.
- Maintain the company security systems, including security access components, coordinating as needed with the IT and HR departments.
- Inspects, maintains, and repairs all physical plant machinery, heating, cooling, piping, and electrical systems, coordinating with any needed contracted services, and prepares documented records of maintenance and preventative maintenance performed.
- Checks and records appropriate information for building equipment, including boilers, air compressors, reverse osmosis system, HVAC Systems, coolers and freezers, autoclaves, and production water system.
- Inspects, adjusts, repairs and schedules preventative maintenance of facility equipment.
- Inspects, tests, cleans, and may repair fire equipment, alarms, switches, and sensors.
- Assists in the planning and execution of capital projects related to facilities.
- Assists with development, construction and installation of new automation or production equipment, as it relates to integrating with building systems.
- Fills in for maintenance duties/activities during periods of departmental staffing needs (i.e. short-staffed/absences).
- Responsible for maintenance and management of the preventative maintenance and work order system.
- Communicate all departmental activities to the Facilities Manager and the Director of Facilities.
- Ensures compliance to all FDA, ISO, and OSHA guidelines as well as local, state and federal safety requirements.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, management, or facilities-related field and/or five years of maintenance experience desired. Manufacturing environment experience is preferred. Advanced degree field and/or trades certifications may substitute for a portion of direct experience requirements.
- A minimum of three years of Supervisory experience required.
- Proficient in software applications, including Microsoft, along with building maintenance and timekeeping programs.
- Must be dependable, well organized, possess good interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
