Summary

We are creating a new position for a Plumbing/Piping Purchasing Agent to buy materials necessary for our business. You have the means and opportunity to improve our productivity by making the most timely and cost-effective purchases. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a commercial mindset, and experience with commercial/industrial plumbing and pipefitting. You should know how to evaluate market conditions and different suppliers. Communication skills will help you negotiate effectively and maintain profitable relationships. The goal is to acquire supplies in a timely fashion that are critical for the success of our business operations.

Job Duties

• Receive and evaluate material, tool, and equipment requisitions from various company personnel.
• Review specifications or other project information to determine product request meets project requirements.
• Develop profitable purchasing strategies
• Assess supplier profiles and analyze offers
• Prepare and issue purchase orders to appropriate vendors.
• Coordinate with Field Superintendents, Foremen and project managers.
• Confirm delivery dates and follow up with vendors throughout delivery cycle.
• Follow up with vendors and assist with back orders.
• Work to resolve issues with supplier delivery dates, material transactions and invoice discrepancies.
• Manage relationships with key suppliers and our personnel to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
• Maintain accurate records for pricing and vendor information.

Requirements

• 3-5 years proven experience in plumbing or piping purchasing or a relevant role in the industry.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office, including Excel and Word and Experience with estimating software a plus.
• Experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
• Outstanding organizational skills
• A strong analytical mindset
• Highly organized.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening
• Ability to pass MVR check
• Ability to pass a physical ability test
• Valid FL License – Minimum Class E License
• OSHA 10 certification a plus but not required
