We need a senior (10+ Years) Postgres DBA for a long-term project. Cloud/Infrastructure as a Code (IAAC) and CI/CD are required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a key technical role that will help build several data centers, corporate office environments, and cloud based software applications. This includes servers, storage, network, SaaS, monitoring, and everything in between. Protego’s environment is security first, redundant, able to scale up and out easily, and fully compliant with the highest standards like FedRAMP and NIST. The ideal candidate has proven experience building and managing Postgres database environments in the enterprise. The Postgres Database Administrator is part of a team working closely with both security and application development groups.

Objectives:

• Collaborate on the design and building of the complete production IT infrastructure required to run a highly secure and highly available set of applications across multiple data centers.

• Collaborate on the design and building of the corporate IT infrastructure.

• Sharing knowledge with team members to help improve the team's overall skills and performance.

• Adhere to quality standards and procedures to ensure the best specifications are always met and maintained.

• Stay on the forefront of emerging technologies in order to recommend new technology and ideas that improve the platform and efficiency.

• Collaborate with peers to generate realistic technical roadmaps across the whole organization.

• Identify tools needed for the NOC team to ensure proper monitoring and operation.

• Collaborate with the compliance team to provide required resources, appropriate documentation, and secure access during audits.

• Implement and maintain controls and monitoring procedures to ensure availability of critical systems, and minimal service interruptions.

• Be able to adapt to new technologies, applications, and perform critical required duties as necessary.

• Determine when services should be outsourced in order to lower costs and/or free up internal team members to tackle tasks that give a competitive advantage without losing required security or functionality.

• Drive a collaborative culture that values technical depth, accountability, and customer service.

• Occasional travel to other customer, and vendor offices.

• Ability to share in on call rotation and work with remote locations around the world during their hours, as needed.

What you bring:

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in technology positions with an emphasis on infrastructure services.

• Knowledge of business concepts, and an understanding of the links between major business processes, products, systems, and networks.

• A track record of working collaboratively and productively with business partners.

• Proven experience with the following:

• Create the database/tablespaces and scheduling the maintenance jobs

• Managing database security/integrity and backup procedures

• Understand the complexities of advanced techniques – e.g. table partitioning

• Experience in Postgres replication

• Backup and restore the database and clusters

• Experience on pgdump and analyze and reindexes

• Experience on Failover and switchover the servers and fix

• Experience in migrations and upgrade of database in heterogeneous platform

• Database manager/database configuration settings tuning

• Database performance monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting

• Adhere to ITIL processes and ability to work in PROD, DEV, TEST and QA environments.

• Unix shell and Perl scripting experience

• Database/Schema Refreshes

• DB User/Access/Roles management

• Create database objects like tablespace, tables, index, views, etc.

• Provide DB Capacity Planning analysis, design & implement data archiving, purging solutions & partitioning solutions

• Experience and understanding of the following is desired:

• IaC (Infrastructure-as-Code)

• Automated software-based infrastructure management

• Continuous integration/delivery

• Demonstrated administrative, financial, project management, and vendor management skills.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour
