The Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Engineer will develop a PRA model of the xEVAS System that estimates Loss of Crew and Loss of Mission calculations in relevant environments in support of International Space Station and Artemis programs.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare, evaluate, and assure reliability & maintainability plans for the Exploration Extravehicular Activity Services (xEVAS) program supporting commercial space flight.
  • Develop and maintain an industry-standard PRA model capable of calculating qualitative risk to the system. The model shall be able to model all risk that could lead to Loss of Crew (LOC) or Loss of Mission (LOM).
  • Responsible for consolidating the results of all PRA analyses, related files, logic and assumptions into the Program Probabilistic Risk Assessment deliverable.
  • Provide modeling and data analysis for design and operational trade studies in support of mission operations decisions.
  • Supports the development and assessment of FMEA/CIL and their ground rules.
  • Evaluates project documents related to reliability & maintainability to assure consistency and adequacy with overall project requirements.
  • Performs, develops, and utilizes any tools needed to assure that all applicable reliability & maintainability requirements are identified for the xEVAS program and subsystems.
  • Responsible for updating, integrating logic models using quantitative fault tree analysis (SAPHIRE or equivalent) and maintaining risk models for the XEVAS elements.
  • Additional responsibilities include performing focused quantitative risk assessments to support risk-informed decisions pertaining to space suit testing/operations risk and risk mitigation alternatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED:

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Education: Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering, or a related field.
  • Years of Experience: Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • Ability to communicate reliability technical data/analyses to management.
  • Ability to interface effectively with hardware and systems engineers to develop comprehensive understanding of SLS hardware, operations, and performance.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, interpret, and integrate failure data.
  • Effective working within a team environment and as a stand-alone subject matter expert.

WORK LOCATION:

This position is located onsite; no hybrid or remote working will be available for this position.


BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:
