Job description

The Secondary Teacher works cooperatively with the Primary Teacher and assists in implementing daily Early Childhood Development learning experiences and activities.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist in the implementation of daily lesson plans.

* Knowledge of the curriculum and assessments.

* Assist in observing, assessing and recording the behavior of all children assigned to the classroom.

* Assist in setting up and organizing the classroom, labeling interest area and shelves with pictures and words.

* Provide and assist in maintaining and developing a safe and healthy learning environment for all children, including children with disabilities.

* Assist in maintaining complete and concise records for each child.

* Maintain confidentiality at all times.

* Assist in implementing IEP’s for children with disabilities.

* Complete daily attendance records, meals serve and records.

* Assist in the inventory of classroom materials and supplies, and store as directed.

* Assist with visits to the homes of parents or guardians of children assigned to classroom.

* Assist with making staff parent conferences.

* Encourage parent participation in the classroom in special activities, in active learning and socialization.

* Assist with lunchroom duties such as breakfast, lunch, family style meals and snacks.

* Assist with bus duties as assigned and required.

* Assist with recruitment and enrollment.

* Assist with classroom clean-up, including bathroom.

* Perform other duties as directed.

* Willingness to attend all staff meeting and required training.

* Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Job Knowledge – Must Know

* Knowledge of all Health and Safety rules and requirements

* Skilled in verbal and written communication

* Knowledge of Head Start Philosophy, Performance Standards; Policy and Procedures.

* Must uphold agency personnel policies and Head Start procedures

* Must be cooperatively and display a positive attitude toward working as a team with other staff member

* Must have empathy for children and low income families.

Minimum Requirements of the Position

* CDA, TCC or TCO in Early Childhood Education

* Must possess a valid first aid and CPR certification

* Must be a US citizen; have a Permanent Resident Card, or an alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551)

* Must have and maintain a clean driving record (NOT TO EXCEED 6 PTS)

* Must have and maintain a criminal history absent of convictions for violent crimes or for any crime against children.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $9.00 - $11.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Dublin, GA 31040: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
