We are seeking a Principal IT Architect – Data Engineering to build high quality, scalable and resilient distributed systems that power Medtronic Diabetes analytics platform and data pipelines.

As a Principal IT Architect – Data Engineering, you will be a hands-on technical leader who designs and delivers Data Warehousing and/or lakehouse Solution for Diabetes operating unit.

What you will do :

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Build, schedule, and manage data movement from application origin through batch and streaming systems to make it available for key business decisions.
  • Ensure data products are aligned with the rapidly evolving needs of business.
  • Utilize programming languages like Scala, Python and Open-Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases and Cloud based data warehousing services such as Redshift and Snowflake
  • Design and build highly scalable data pipelines using Spark, Kafka to ingest data from various systems.
  • Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and technologies.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have
  • 7 years of IT experience with bachelor’s in science, engineering or technical field or 5 years of data engineering experience with advance/master degree
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in designing Spark pipeline with Scala
  • 3+ years in designing Airflow pipelines and deployment in Prod
  • 2+ year in managing SAAS based Privacy tools
  • 3+ years of experience in designing CI/CD pipelines either with Jenkins or Git actions.
  • 3+ years hands on experience in AWS EMR, S3, Glue or Hive metastore, EC2, Lambda, Presto/Athena, kinesis/Kafka
  • 3+ Years’ experience in processing Parquet, Avro or ORC file formats
  • 1+ Years’ experience in Snowflake and snowflake integration with Spark
  • 4+ years of experience with version control repository
  • 4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux basic commands and shell scripting
  • Experience designing and implementing different data warehousing technologies and approaches, such as RDBMS and NoSQL, Kimball vs. Inmon, etc. and how to apply them.
  • Knowledge of unified analytics platform like Databricks is a big plus.
  • 1+ year experience working with data science team to deploy ML models.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
