Penguin Computing is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect for our Ultrascale organization. The Principal Enterprise Architect is the product owner of the enterprise systems deployed at Ultrascale data centers supporting Ultrascale customer programs. They work alongside several Subject Matter Experts in the fields of AI Workloads, Storage, Networking, and Orchestration to capture Ultrascale customer requirements, architect solutions to meet those requirements, and document those solutions. The Principal Enterprise Architect is the ongoing single point of contact for all questions regarding the enterprise environment supporting an Ultrascale program, and makes transparent all documentation and information pertaining to the technologies and solutions in that environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Own the solutions architecture plan while being a “hands-on” builder or developer in a client-facing engagement.- Capture the business requirements, goals, and milestones of ultrascale customers.
- Collaborate with SMEs to generate proposals for ultrascale programs.
- Collaborate with technology SMEs (AI/Workload, Data, Software, Networking) to ensure all aspects of ultrascale solutions are validated, complete, and fully qualified for scale-out production deployment.
- Ensure architectures proposed comply with client standards and policies.
- Be the primary point of contact for key ultrascale and penguin stakeholders, and provide status updates and reports on the technical progress, any challenges, and recommendations on how to move forward.
- Serving as advisor to senior business management on business and information integration strategies.
- Ongoing research and assessment of new analysis approaches for potential use within the ultrascale program.
- Establishment and maintenance of contacts within business units and information system programs to understand business activities and business drivers, business requirements, solutions strategies and alternatives, etc., being considered and/or implemented.
- Provides technical guidance to development teams in order to provide solutions that are secure, scalable, reliable, sustainable, and perform well while remaining flexible with low costs.
Experience/Education
We are looking for a Principal Enterprise Architect who’s highly motivated with strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills. You have the ability to work successfully with multi-function teams, technology subject matter experts, and the Office of the CTO. You can coordinate effectively across organizational boundaries and geographies. Strong time-management and organization skills for coordinating multiple ultrascale initiatives, priorities and implementations of new technology and products into very complex projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8 years of experience in highly specialized, leading edge information technologies and methodologies
- 8 years of experience providing guidance concerning the architecture and design of complex IT systems and subsystems
- Solid technical foundation in distributed computing and storage, including significant experience with most of the following: server systems, storage, I/O, networking, and systems software.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to a broad range of audiences.
- Experience in working with large distributed teams in a highly dynamic environment.
- Experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires independent time management, task prioritization, flexibility, and keen experience to identify problems and proactively work towards solutions.
- Experience designing scalable/reliable/flexible/secure solutions across heterogeneous hardware platforms , operating systems, middlewares, and infrastructure technologies.
- Communications, both verbal (e.g.: group session facilitation, presentations, seminars, etc.), and written (e.g.: reports, articles, etc.)
- Demonstrated success working with standard software development lifecycle models, deliverables/artifacts and tools, SOA concepts and design patterns.
- Understanding developers needs in parallel with business needs.

Compensation/Benefits:
The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in outside of CA is $133,746 - $167,183 the pay ultimately offered within the expected range may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus eligible and there is a range of medical, dental, and vision benefits available, as well as a 401k saving plan and other benefits and plans, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
