About the Role
OVERVIEW
The Portfolio Guideline Monitoring Principal (“The Principal”) will be part of the Portfolio Guideline Monitoring and Implementation Team within Investment Services &Technology (InvesTech). InvesTech provides each of Wellington’s investment teams with the data, controls, and support they need to ensure that their investment intent is accurately reflected in accordance with client regulatory and operational requirements. Other teams within InvesTech include Information Technology, Portfolio Data, Investment Implementation, and a number of other teams involved in driving innovation and the firm’s operational edge to exceed our client’s investment and service expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities:
- The Principal will be focused on the coverage and support of the firm’s Fixed Income products that i) Reviews Investment Management Agreements, evaluates client guidelines, and maintain the guideline monitoring system, LatentZero Sentinel, ii) partner with internal stakeholders to resolve complex investment and regulatory issues
- The Principal is responsible for ensuring daily monitoring of the team’s accounts are complete with issues properly identified for resolution. The Principal will act as a key senior point of escalation for resolution of potential compliance breaches
- The Principal will be responsible for pro-actively reviewing key risk indicators with the goal of resolving such issues before client impact
- The Principal will work collaboratively with other senior leadership team members within the global Guideline Monitoring team to move forward the agenda of the overall group by achieving workflow and process improvements and building out the compliance monitoring system’s testing capabilities
- The Principal will work cross functionally with internal stakeholders across Wellington including Client Service, Product Management, Portfolio Management, and Legal Services to address regulatory, client, and investor requirements
- Assist the management team in establishing a team roadmap to deliver capabilities that align with key stakeholder business priorities
- Serve as a Guideline functional and process subject matter expert able to address complex inquiries from internal and external contacts
- Perform the role of a learning and development accelerator with a strong focus on training and upskilling of team members focused on Fixed Income
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate for this position is likely to:
- Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of all investment types, including equity and fixed income products, and derivative instruments.
- Leadership experience in a team managerial role with a demonstrated track record of recruiting and developing talent
- Be a change agent, creative, innovative, and focused on continuous improvements
- Be self-confident, a self-starter, results driven, energetic, have an inquisitive mind, and be controls conscious
- Have strong organizational skills, an ability to manage assignments with competing priorities, excellent communication skills
- Have strong attention to detail and computer literacy (knowledge of Word, Excel, and similar tools).
- Self-motivated and willing to work in an energetic, fast paced team environment
- Be highly collaborative, and strong consensus builder; demonstrate an ability to partner across groups, regions, and functions
- Advanced degree work, including CFA designation or other professional certification would be a plus.

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:
USD 100,000 - 225,000
This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.
Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
