Chemours is seeking a Process Control Specialist / Technician to join our growing Analytics and Process Control team! This position will report directly to a Manufacturing Technology Manager at our Chambers Works, Deepwater, NJ location.
The Process Control Specialist is a highly visible, key role with varied responsibilities supporting process control systems, including distributive control systems, data historians, analyzers, instrumentation technology, firewall interfaces and programmable logic controllers working within our team of Manufacturing Technology, Operations and Maintenance teams.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Maintain and repair process control systems (e.g. DCS, PLC) and peripherals to support production demand for multiple 24/7 chemical processes.
  • Provide technical assistance to Electrical/Instrumentation, Operations and Technical in troubleshooting and incident investigation of process control related issues, including documentation and tracking of systemic issues.
  • Perform backup, patching, antivirus update and inventory control of all process control systems to meet corporate disaster recovery plan and cyber security compliance requirements.
  • Implement vendor’s corrective actions and/or recommendations that are applicable to site process control systems.
  • Follow site management of change requirements for and maintain accurate configuration documentation of all process control systems.
  • Configure process control systems and other process control related equipment based upon guidance from Process Control Engineers and Operations to perform manufacturing tasks safely, along with design and implementation of process control change requests related to logic and control strategies.
  • Work with Electrical/Instrumentation Technicians, Operations, Technical and Engineering to ensure successful installation, checkout, and startup of process control related projects and interlock checks.
  • Involvement in scope development and design reviews of process control related capital projects.
The following is required for this role:
  • Associates degree or higher in areas such as instrumentation and digital control systems, electrical, electronics, information science, computer science, or 2 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and guide multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Must work well in both self-managed and team environment
  • Demonstrated skills/ knowledge of IT and computer networking
The following is preferred for this role:
  • 2 years of relevant work experience including maintenance/troubleshooting/configuration/ support with Industrial electrical system/instrumentation and experience with digital control systems such as DCS and PLC
  • Relevant experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand control system related documentation such as: P&I drawing, Logic drawing, Electrical drawing, Vendor’s Installation/User manual, etc.
  • Knowledge of good computer security practices
  • Experience with Honeywell DCS systems (i.e. TDC/TPS, Experion) or
  • Experience with ABB DCS Systems (specifically, Infi-90 and Symphony Plus) or
  • Experience with Rockwell PLC system and associated network architectures (i.e. ControlLogix, CompactLogix, etc)
  • Basic understanding of Chemical Process operation
