This position requires the engineer to enhance the manufacturing process control and throughput by reducing process costs, supporting product quality and production objectives. Provides technical support to manufacturing operations. Provides for continuous improvement of manufacturing processes through the design, selection and installation of new equipment and systems and the modification of existing equipment and systems. Provides support to maintenance operations. Creates and/or maintains current documentation of equipment and systems. The engineer will initiate and manage capital improvement projects. With their knowledge of lean manufacturing methods, this position will assist in driving the continuous improvement process at the shop floor level. Position will also participate with quality action groups and work with the product engineering to develop new products and processes concurrently.

Essential Functions:


  • Creates and/or maintains current documentation of processes and operating procedures.
  • Maintains a high level of personal and professional knowledge of related technologies and manufacturing systems.
  • Works effectively with personnel in plant supervision, shop set up and operation, and quality in order to coordinate the first time set-up and troubleshooting of operations.
  • Provides engineering support to maintenance in the troubleshooting, rebuilding and repair of equipment in pursuit of improved OEE.
  • Initiates and executes continuous improvement projects, including brainstorming, information gathering and analysis, proposal development based on cross-functional input, and cost justification of any required investment.
  • Creates and maintains set-up sheets, process drawings, control plans, and PFMEAs in accordance with company design standards and procedures.
  • Designs and develops manufacturing and inspection tooling, fixtures, and gauges needed to support prototype and production processes.
  • Designs custom equipment in support of manufacturing processes according to company design standards
  • Interacts with vendors to determine appropriate specifications and to arrange for the evaluation, purchase and acceptance of equipment, materials, or services.
  • Acquires and provides expert knowledge of assigned processes, tooling and equipment in support of a 24x7 operation.
  • Provides project management for new machine and system modifications, installations and upgrades.
  • Provides for the continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and equipment. Assures maximum reliability of equipment, processes and procedures.

Desired Experience:

  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or comparable study preferred
  • Auto CAD and Autodesk Inventor or similar experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel and MS Project
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Ability solve problems and improve manufacturing process
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
