Summary
Product Design Engineering is a profession that requires technical skills, and experience in a manufacturing environment. The following are responsibilities and qualifications that are suggested to perform at a high level for MAC Trailer:
Responsibilities
- Design, model and create assemblies using CAD software.
- Issue and prepares detailed drawings, specifications for shop production.
- Responsible for trailer design development and continuous improvement of existing and future products.
- Define part numbers and assembly structures for input into Bills of Materials.
- Determine long lead time items for an advanced bill of materials for purchasing
- Create and maintain all engineering procedures and documents.
- Engineering support for all internal departments, outside sales and customers.
- Perform and have the ability to carry out basic engineering calculations.
- Determine requirements based on sales specs for overall engineering product design
- Evaluating material cost and strategizing the most cost-effective means for production
- Determine legal requirements based on DOT regulations for final design
- Confers with research and development and prepares design modifications as required
- Evaluating material weights to manufacture a durable but light product

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common drawings and schematics.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, dealers, sales staff, supporting departments and management.

- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Computer skills essential to the position.
- Ability to manage time and multiple tasks at once.
- Handle and evaluate decisions on the fly.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred
- Associates degree from a technical college or university
- Or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Wage Range: $65,000 - $90,000
