What you will do:

This position is responsible for supporting Fans, Blowers and Gravity Ventilators. As a Product Engineer I you will create new product designs and improve existing product designs for commercial air moving products using sound engineering principles.

How you will do it:

  • Create parts, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks modeling software. Use of SolidWorks PDM software to manage engineering data.
  • Create drawings and BOM's for missing or outdated product documentation.
  • Use AS400 (ERP software) to enter and configure part and assembly data
  • Respond to Engineering Change Requests by releasing drawing and modeling packages on schedule.
  • Answer questions about the products from internal customers, sales representatives, and manufacturing engineers at the production facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Advanced Engineering Department to streamline and lean out production standards and processes.
  • Interface with manufacturing plants to ensure design specifications are maintained, eliminate waste, and recommend design adjustments and improvements.
  • Create and monitor status reports and charts utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Build, test, and evaluate any required prototypes for product development.
  • Test, evaluate, and compare competitor’s products, materials, designs, performance, and applications.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions, to stay apprised of new developments in technology, tools, and resources. This may include participation in AMCA, UL, DOE, ASHRAE, and AHRI committees.
  • Generate technical reports, graphs, and marketing illustrations to define/illustrate system performance and operating characteristics.
  • Follow and comply with company work and safety rules.

Required

Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering from an accredited four-year College or University, and one to three years of hands-on SolidWorks experience is required.

One to three years of hands-on practical work experience in HVAC is a plus.

Experience with AutoCAD, VBA, DFMA, DFMEA, LabView, ANSYS CFD/FEA, sheet metal forming and fabrication, air movement principles, and fan/blower laws a plus.

Communication Skills

Proficiency with the English language is required.

A candidate must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, and agency standards. They must also possess the ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions, effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

A candidate must possess the ability to calculate values such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, air flow, heat transfer, and sound power by applying concepts from algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, differential equations, and physics.

Reasoning Ability

A candidate must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. They must also be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must show proficiency with SolidWorks and MS Office products. Experience with ANSYS CFD, Autodesk Revit, automating designs within SolidWorks using VBA, Excel VBA, SolidWorks PDM, DriveWorks, and AS400 is a plus.

Other Qualifications

Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time to respective manufacturing locations for product start-up, quality audits, and follow up on the production of products.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.
