DMI is looking for a
PRODUCTION CONTROL SPECIALIST
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs office support activities. Duties may include word processing, creating spreadsheets, data entry, and filing.
- Extensive software skills are required, as well as Internet research abilities and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work with and around large printers and other document processing machines.
- Processing/Filing/creating and recording documents electronically
- Incoming and outgoing email requests for documents and service
- Production and distribution of daily, quarterly and annual postcard notifications and/or multi-part forms.
- Creating and distributing statistical reports
- Maintain a healthy view and provide a level of support for production control related to mainframe operations and products running in the environment
- Provide assistance on design criteria, subject matter expertise and best practices on the existing environment where required.
- Provide operational guidance and technical assistance for the production deployment key products through the system development lifecycle.
- Use key mainframe products such as Control D, Connect Direct, IBM Scheduler and others in the environment to resolve and address daily operations and operational issues
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Years of Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience or Associate’s degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience, or a minimum 15 years of prior relevant working experience in the past 20 years (current)
- 7 years of experience or more as a Production Control Engineer / Specialist
- 5 years of experience with BMC Control-D application and BMC Installation
- 5 years of experience with IBM SMP/E to perform mainframe software installation and maintenance
- 5 years of experience with IBM Job Control Language (JCL)
- 3 years of experience with writing and debugging JCL and REXX/CLISTs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- zWS (IBM’s Scheduler) knowledge
- Connect Direct- High level knowledge of how processes are submitted via batch; how to use the panels to check processes (or willingness to learn)
- Control D – High level knowledge of functionality, user issues and how to resolve
- Member of a Support team responsible for the triage, analysis, and successful resolution of data inconsistencies, ad-hoc reporting requests, and software functionality concerns in a large enterprise software system.
- Possess ability to analyze logs and code to fix Tier 2 support issues.
- Possesses solid Oracle SQL and ad-hoc reporting skills and experience.
- Responsible for ticket tracking and progress reporting within team.
- Experience with Jira, Azure Sprint board or other modern ticketing systems.
- Knowledge on Java or related development experience.
- Participates in the proper escalation, planning, and stakeholder communications around confirmed software defects requiring development resolution.
- Contributes to client & end customer satisfaction with prompt action and clear communications.
- Takes proactive ownership of issues & concerns and sees them through to resolution.
- Recognizes & escalates support process inefficiencies and contributes to optimizations.
- Collaborates with stakeholders on process of writing clear and complete tickets.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze, develop, plan and perform mainframe operating system software installation and maintenance.
- Ability to test and verify mainframe software.
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve mainframe software problems.
- Ability to use mainframe tools such as RMF, SMF, IPCS, Abend-Aid, File-Aid, SYSLOGs, etc., to resolve software problems.
- Ability to coordinate operating system software problem determination and resolution in a mainframe SYSPLEX environment.
- Ability to customize mainframe system software options and parameters.
Additional Requirements:
- Prior Federal government experience
- Experience working in Agile environment and understanding of agile methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities.
- FTP working knowledge
- 2 – 5 years successful IT services experience in Tier 2 or Tier 3 product support of one of the following roles: business/systems analysis, technology/development, data/reporting, project management.
- Consulting experience
- Professional understanding of React, JavaScript/ES6; HTML & CSS; jQuery or similar JS libraries
