IDM MACHINIST- Corning Incorporated interviews applicants for self-managed teams and we are looking for individuals that possess a strong work ethic and substantial interpersonal and team participation skills.

Hiring Process:

The following information is relative to Production and Maintenance employment at Corning Incorporated in the Corning, New York Valley:

The employment process for all Production and Maintenance positions at Corning Incorporated in the Corning Valley begins once you attach your resume and submit a completed application. The next step in the process will be an orientation at a local venue to be determined. The orientation will be followed by a series of tests and interviews conducted by Corning Incorporated employees. Upon successful completion of all of the above, the next step will be background checks and a medical exam, to include a physical assessment and a drug test.

Job information:

• Transportation – Must supply own transportation; plants are as far as 15 miles apart. No relocation assistance.
• Our new employees will go through a 90 day probationary period. Production and Maintenance employees are represented by USW Local 1000.
• Qualified candidates are included in a pool for IDM Machinist positions and will be called upon as openings occur at IDM.
• Work Hours – Varies by plant; working holidays and weekends are a must.

Education:

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required

Experience:

• 4 years of applicable Machine Shop experience or military equivalent or Journeyman or Class “A” status or
• Minimum 2 year Machine Tool Technology degree or
• Certificate in relevant field with minimum 1 year experience

Required Skills:

• Set up and operate straight vertical milling machine, drill presses, surface grinders, straight lathe, CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Write and or edit existing machine programs on similar parts to produce component parts that meet design specification to satisfy company quality standards.
