The Production Scheduler works on-site, first shift, Monday - Friday, and is responsible for all production scheduling activities. This role will collaborate with the Production Planner, Sales, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Warehouse, R&D, Procurement, and Customer Service to develop and implement a production schedule that ensures customer delivery requirements are achieved.
What are the responsibilities:
- Establish sequence and lead time of each production operation to meet customer requirements in collaboration with master scheduler
- Develop production schedule, monitor daily schedule, and adjust as needs arise based on customer input
- Coordination of production schedules for internal projects, external customers, and repair department
- Develop and maintain production files and KPIs to be reviewed with management teams
- Support the continuous negotiations with vendors to ensure purchasing the best quality and lowest cost materials available; periodical sourcing of new products and vendors to achieve lowest cost and highest quality
- Perform regular analysis and report on production status and activities.
- Monitor WIP inventory to develop an efficient production schedule while also meeting customer requirements
- Monitor raw material and production supply inventories and work with procurement to expedite materials as needed.
- Coordinate with sales, shipping, receiving, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
- Assist with SAP implementation activities and ensure S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) and logistics processes properly leverage the corporate ERP system.
- Work closely with master planner to ensure MRP requirements are communicated accurately to internal and external customers on a timely basis.
- Support the development and implementation of inventory management strategies.
- May also be responsible for processing material purchase requisitions
- May assist in material audits
- Participate in on-going process improvement initiatives
What Skills/Education are needed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field is strongly preferred
- Two to Five years’ experience directly related to production planning/scheduling and inventory management, preferably in a specialty chemical manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated success in building relationships and fostering teamwork
- Basic to advanced knowledge and use of SAP ERP/MRP system
- Experience implementing operations planning strategies that ensure supply stability and responsiveness to meet customer requirements
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment, and ensure timely completion of responsibilities with competing timelines
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficient written and verbal communication, team building, and interpersonal skills
