Position Location: Trumbull, CT
Position Summary:
Coordinate all manufacturing activities within production and ensure that quality and safety are practiced during the manufacturing operation. This will be done under the direction of the Value Stream Manager and in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Production Supervisor is the primary point of contact for production and responsible for the production associate’s training and safety. In addition, ensuring that production and documentation has been completed reviewed and is compliant with Copper Surgical Policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Follows all established procedures and standard practices for safety, GMP compliance, and value stream objectives and initiatives.
- Partners with Buyer/Planner to ensure production schedule and planning adequately staffed to ensure efficient use of associates and equipment resources in conformance with established schedules.
- Responsible for compliance and adherence to ISO-13485, FDA and cGMP practices, such as line clearance/set up, cleanroom protocols and DHR.
- Responsible for ensuring ALL production and quality system training is up to date, as well as, employee attendance (for Cell) and department performance metric records. They are also responsible for ensuring the Value Stream & cells has adequate cross training in order to ensure product flow.
- Assists Value Stream Leadership to meet KPI’s related to team performance.
- Drives continuous improvement and upkeep of all documentation needed for production, i.e. work orders, method sheets, training records, travelers, etc.
- Actively participates in problem identification and resolutions.
- Provides input for staff performance and recommend promotion, discipline or termination in conformance with Company Policy.
- Coaches and counsels staff as necessary in order that they are in compliance with department and company procedures and policies.
- Actively supports other production associated and VS leadership by helping foster open communication as opportunities arise.
- Ensures staff compliance to applicable safety regulations and company safety policies.
- Establishes a clean, safe and organized work area using 5S Principles.
- Participates, when requested, in decision-making process where respective area is impacted (i.e. Continuous Improvement, MRB, CAPA’s).
- Possesses ability to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment and meet or exceed all production deadlines.
- Assists in general maintenance and cleanup of manufacturing areas.
- Is on time and responsible for their personal attendance. Works the necessary overtime to meet production schedule(s) to accomplish established ASL targets and meet customer demands.
- Maintains the proper Kanban, stocking levels and locations within the Value Stream where applicable.
- Identifies waste and communicate potential solutions using lean manufacturing concepts.
- Performs additional duties and assignments as determined by management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience, in medical device manufacturing environment as a Production Supervisor or lead.
- Proven track record of working in a production environment, with hands on experience in MRP/ERP, Planning and Scheduling
- Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of medical device manufacturing, especially as it relates to ISO, and Quality systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet reasonable deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and move forward with projects by understanding overall requirements for that project.
- Ability to brainstorm and problem solve in a team environment as well as individually.
