Primary Duties:

• Direct, coordinate and supervisor all cold end functions necessary for shift operations of continuous float glass manufacture. These include cutting, packing, shipping and warehousing. Understand basic operations on the Hot-end process.
• To actively lead the team to ensure that plant targets and objectives are met in all aspects of its business, while promoting and monitoring the process of continuous improvement.
• To provide a safe and healthy working environment implementing improvement programs in order to eliminate any work related injuries.
• Ensure Safety and OSHA regulations are enforced and that Visual Workplace, T.P.M., and 5S standards are at the highest level.
• To achieve effective and efficient use of resources.
• Help train and identify training opportunities for all employees on shift (production operations, pattern changes, thickness changes, load balancing, cutting issues and safety & health topics). Provide feedback to area team leaders on operator training gaps.
• To monitor and evaluate costs, quality and service, identifying areas for improvement to eliminate waste. This will normally be achieved through the use of problem solving techniques, the evaluation of team results compared to budget and objectives, and the ongoing monitoring of team performance.
• To ensure, through a cascade method, that communications operate effectively both within the team and where there is impact elsewhere within the organization. Communicate with the Shift manager regarding safety, quality and production concerns. Communicate with the area team leaders on any necessary changes to SOPs.
• Ensure product quality meets internal and customer specifications.
• Work with the Shift Manager and HE supervisor both prior to the start of the shift, during the shift, and at the end of the shift to determine manning requirements, scheduling concerns, maintenance issues, process status, as documented on shift report and be aware of any special quality specifications as well as complete the shift report and complete proper shift hand off.
• Ensure 5S and housekeeping responsibilities are fulfilled for each area in the cold end.
• Develop and improve the skill base of team members, both as individuals and as a team.
• Ensure employees are provided appropriate guidance, counseling, and recognition on matters related to job performance. Provide consistent guidance within plant policies and procedures to team members regarding performance and absenteeism issues while following the plant’s corrective action process.
• Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and it’s Values and Principles
• To monitor all equipment and processes to ensure protection of the assets.
• Provide support to the Shift Manager and HE supervisor as needed.

Qualifications Required:

• Minimum of an additional two years post high school education, AAS degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2-5 years supervisory experience.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and must be an effective communicator.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize objectives and targets to meet deadlines.
• Strong computer skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and people skills
• Detail oriented

Qualifications Desired:

• BA/BS degree
• Six sigma certification
• Previous glass experience
• Demonstrated ability in developing and results oriented competencies
