Do you have experience in the research and development of policies and procedures? Do you have the ability to adapt and learn new technologies? If so, the City of Norfolk's Police Department is seeking candidates for the position of Program Administrator within the Office of Support Services.
The incumbent is responsible for the review and evaluation of departmental policies and procedures, handling numerous projects with multiple deadlines, and utilizing acquired computer skills to adapt and learn new technologies.

Essential Functions

***The departmental hiring salary range for this position is $50,243 - $57,779 annually***

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Under direction of the Office of Support Services, reviews and evaluates current policies and procedures.
  • Research and develop new and updated policies and/or procedures in collaboration with command staff, subject matter experts, the Accreditation Division, and the Norfolk City Attorney's Office.
  • Review and draft memorandums and/or transmittal documents to be disseminated throughout the Norfolk Police Department.
  • Plans and manages shifting priorities to handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
  • Utilizes basic computer applications, including the use of Microsoft Office, to adapt and learn new technologies and/or processes.
  • Prepares annual court schedules.
  • Assists with other various assignments as needed.

Education/Experience

Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Three years of experience in program management or related field.

The preferred candidate will possess:
  • Three (3) years of experience in policy development.

Work Schedule :
40-hours a week, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (with a 30-minute lunch break)

Signing Bonus:
This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus. The signing bonus will be paid in two (2) increments: $2,500 upon completion of 60 days of employment, and $2,500 upon completion of your probationary period and/or recruit academy. To receive the signing bonus, you must be an active employee in good standing.
