Location:
Washington County, Maine with initial emphasis on activities in: Alexander, Baileyville, Codyville, Dyer Township, Fowler Township, Grand Lake Stream Plantation, Indian Township, Lambert Lake Township, Princeton, Topsfield, Talmadge, and Vanceboro.


Position Description
: This position will provide logistical support for project supported activities, conduct outreach, offer community education, and serve as “boots on the ground” for project implementation.


Supervisor/Accountability
: Reports to Senior Program Manager, MCD U.S.-based Programs


Essential Job Functions
:

This position will perform the following essential functions in addition to the responsibilities listed in the position description:

  • Manage logistics, such as scheduling meetings, writing and distributing meeting notes, sending reminders for meetings and follow up tasks, tracking project activities and partner actions, for all assigned projects
  • Coordinate with other project staff, who may be employed by other organizations, to support project work plan implementation, evaluation, and reporting
  • Assist in responding to data requests, drafting reports as needed
  • Conduct outreach to identify potential new collaborative partners – individuals and local residents.
  • Attend school and community events to talk with area residents about the project and opportunities to participate.
  • Develop communication for posting to local Facebook groups and for flier distribution.
  • Visit residents aged 55 and over to discuss project-related opportunities
  • Train for and then host digital literacy offerings at public spaces, such as the library
  • Recruit individuals to offer enrichment courses for Adult Education
  • Work with recreation program staff to develop and offer non-sports after school and summer programs
  • Assist local community food insecurity program coordinators to expand reach and utilization
  • Work with summer food program manager to offer outdoor education opportunities for participants
  • Computer Literacy: Able to use standard office equipment and software for word processing, spread sheets, and web searches. Individual will be expected to participate in training and achieve advanced knowledge and proficiency with standard office software applications and systems associated with a profession by the end of year one.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience Summary:

An Associate’s degree in health-related field, including public health, or 1-3 years relevant work experience is required. (A combination of four (3) years of education, training, and/or experience in health, public health, or related field.)

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and cultural competence are essential.
  • Knowledge of all local area, history, challenges, and resources
  • Possesses strong organizational skills, able to document and track multiple work plans, objectives, and committee activities.
  • Experience and knowledge in healthcare or public health


Abilities: To
perform this job successfully the employee in this position must be able to demonstrate at least functional proficiency in most of the core competencies. Individuals who are energetic self-starters, who are able to function comfortably in a team environment and relate well to co-workers and the public are well suited to this position. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks.


Physical Demands:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. While performing the duties of this position, it is regularly required to sit and write, to operate a computer and printer, fax machine, photocopier, calculator and use telephone and other communication devices. The employee must be able to sit and drive a car to transport him/herself to meetings or other MCD offices. Must be able to walk around the office, up and down stairs, and be able to do light lifting.

Mental Demands: Must
be able to assume a wide range of responsibilities, to work with staff who vary in their work styles, and to work under pressure. Receive, process, and provide visual, verbal, and written information.


Work Environment:
The primary location of this position is out in the community, at different public locations such as schools, town offices, and local venues. The office aspects of the position are primarily home- based. Individual must be able to assure a safe and quiet workspace that is ergonomically appropriate and has a highspeed internet connection. The responsibilities include attending meetings, conferences, trainings, etc., that necessitate an individual to be in various public places. Weekend and evening hours vary but are necessary, though that also allows flexibility during the weekdays.


Job Performance Evaluation:
The employee will be evaluated at least annually, with semi-annual performance coaching feedback.
