Job Description

Facility Contract Services is a Florida based contract services company, responsible for the employment and management of personnel for municipal clients. Facility Contract Services is currently seeking dynamic and goal-driven employees for The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery and Exhibit Hall in Pembroke Pines. Job Summary

Studio 18 Art Gallery

The Program Coordinator for The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery and Exhibit Hall is a key member of the gallery’s leadership team and is responsible for the successful implementation of multi-disciplinary community arts engagement opportunities and high-quality educational programming. The program coordinator generates the vision, strategic direction, and guidance to ensure that programming and related institutional goals are successfully achieved. Programs include art classes, community gallery roster, field trips, workshops, group tours, pop-up events and large-scale special projects. The core focus of this position is the creation, development and supervision of The Frank’s current and future community programs, and the management of staff and volunteers within this area.

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours a week. Compensation based on qualifications and experience. Health and paid time off benefits available for this position.

Responsibilities and Duties

Programs at the Frank and Studio 18

  • Plan, implement and supervise a diverse yearly schedule of integrated program offerings for a variety of demographics including but not limited to children, adults, students, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and more.
  • Develop a dynamic schedule of on-site art classes that serve a broad audience.
  • Ensure quality assurance of community programs with the goal of enhancing attendance and support.
  • Recruit and supervise qualified instructors, artists, performers, and collaborators.
  • Promote innovation: investigate and generate ideas for new learning opportunities, community partnerships and inclusive programs.
  • Work with Chief Curator to provide information, ideas, scheduling, and related materials for funding opportunities and grant applications. Generate timely reports detailing the status and achievements of all programs.
  • Identify and maintain strategic relationships with artistic collaborators, community organizations, cultural institutions, universities, schools, and the general public.
  • Oversee and manage the purchase of supplies necessary for programs within allotted budget.
  • Collaborate with graphic designer and PR firm to enhance and maintain community awareness and attendance of programs and events.
  • Produce informational text for website, promotional materials, and print/online publications. Ensure that website and marketing material content is consistently updated.
  • Represent The Frank and Studio 18 at meetings and public events

Rep Exhibitions in Studio 18

  • Plans and manages exhibition installation, lighting, and de-installation.
  • Develops project timelines and works with Chief Curator to facilitate the completion of all phases of exhibition planning and execution. Coordinates with Facility Manager to cross check and confirm dates and schedules for all exhibitions and events.
  • Conducts exhibition-related administrative tasks: Circulates and completes exhibition agreements and contracts and submits and tracks payments for vendors. Oversees artwork intake, condition reporting and pickup.
  • Prepares materials to communicate exhibition information to staff, partners and volunteers.

Education, Skills and Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in relevant studies such as Fine Art, Art History, Art Education, Educational Studies, Educational Arts Management, Educational Leadership, Communications or English.
  • Candidate must possess a minimum of two years’ experience in working with community arts facilitation, creative project development, arts education, or instructional oversight.
  • Outstanding leadership qualities: candidate must be able to motivate colleagues and staff to achieve creative and educational institutional goals.
  • Candidate must be able to exercise creativity, attention to detail and effective problem solving when designing and implementing programming goals.
  • Experience in teaching, or willingness to teach and led workshops, is required.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, responsibility, sensitivity, and dependability when interacting with members of the public -particularly children and families- is necessary.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and confidence when addressing large groups required.
  • Self-directed work style needed; candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills required.
  • The candidate must be available to work flexible evenings and weekends related to the programming calendar.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PC operating systems is necessary.
  • Clear enthusiasm for education, the arts and community is desired.
