PROGRAM MANAGER OF YOUTH FORCE
FULL-TIME / EXEMPT
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $65,000 - $70,000

POSITION SUMMARY:*
Reporting to the Associate Director of Larkin Street Academy, the primary role of the Program Manager of Youth Force is to supervise the day-to-day operations of the Youth Force program, as well as provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to staff. The Program Manager of Youth Force oversees the development and implementation of the training curriculum for program staff. Some key responsibilities include: ensuring the integration of employment services into Larkin Street’s continuum of services, managing, monitoring, and reporting on public and private grants and contracts, and oversight of program budgets. This position is tasked with creating programmatic change as is necessary to support workforce development and client goals for further employment and/or education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:*

  • Oversee Youth Force internship program for Larkin Street Youth Services clients.
  • Responsible for interviewing and hiring staff for the Youth Force program team, as well as supporting interviewing and hiring for other Workforce staff.
  • Supervise record keeping for programs the role oversees, including intern employment documentation and timecards.
  • Provide weekly supervision to Youth Force Counselors.
  • Facilitate regular Youth Force meetings with staff.
  • Attend meetings, manage communications, and collaborate at various Larkin Street program sites and external agencies to support Larkin Street clients, and staff, and to facilitate coordinated care as directed by the supervisor.
  • Contribute to Larkin Street Youth program refinements in ways that meet employers’ needs and expectations.
  • Create engagement and support plans for Youth Force participants with higher needs.
  • Assist staff to develop curriculum for life-skills classes, including job readiness, job development and retention, college success and career planning, and independent living skills.
  • Participate in all management meetings, weekly staff meetings, and all other relevant or required agency or contract/community/grant partner meetings.
  • Participate in agency planning activities.
  • Facilitate and encourage high cross-coordination and collaboration with LSA and Engagement programming.
  • Manage the Youth Force program budget and submit the monthly expense report.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:*

  • Run weekly database reports for Youth Force and report relevant contract data to Associate Director or other departments as needed.
  • Maintain professional standards of performance, demeanor, and appearance at all times.
  • Perform tasks and responsibilities in a complete and timely manner, complying with agency policies and standards and conforming to the requirements of this job description.
  • Maintain an awareness of the agency’s mission and work to promote the positive individual and social change goals it embodies.
  • Exercise discretion, confidentiality, and professional judgment at all times keeping with the responsibilities carried personally and by the agency for the care and welfare of staff and the youth whom we serve.
  • Actively strive to upgrade professional skills through engaging in appropriate professional training and experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. May consider experience in lieu of education.

*BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years of experience in workforce development, academic or related discipline.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with adolescents as a vocational counselor/job developer or in the field of public relations.
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural, diverse environment.
  • Ability to work with high-risk youth and with diverse staff, clients, and volunteers.
  • Experience working with youth is highly desired, especially at-risk, homeless, or runaway youth.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to speak and write English clearly and accurately.
