ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical, 15% Adult Basic Education, 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. POSITION SUMMARY:

TRiO Student Support Services is a federally funded program designed to assist students seeking transfer degrees, and aims to help increase retention, graduation, and transfer rates of students who are low-income, first-generation, and/or have a documented disability.
As part of the TRiO SSS team, the Program Support Supervisor is crucial to maintaining compliance with Department of Education requirements for data accuracy, participant eligibility, and service documentation. Under general supervision, this position will perform work requiring knowledge and experience specific to the TRiO program including informing campus partners and students about the TRiO program and eligibility criteria; reviewing applications and communicating with applicants to obtain missing and additional information necessary to assess eligibility; consulting on applicant acceptance and informing students of application decisions on behalf of the TRiO Director.

Recognizing the additional barriers that first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities face as they pursue higher education, the TRIO program is available to assist students with all manner of academic and personal challenges. The Program Support Supervisor triages student requests and questions and refers students to appropriate campus and community resources. It is essential that the candidate for this position communicates in culturally responsive and compassionate ways in both spoken and written formats. As serving students with disabilities is a priority, there will be a clear focus on creating accessible services, content, and programming.
The Program Support Supervisor is involved in all aspects of the TRiO Student Support Services program. This position will involve frequent collaboration with other team members to develop, implement, evaluate, and grow TRiO programming, policies, and services.

Position Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Serve as primary contact for program eligibility and participation for prospective students and campus community
  • Engage in evaluation of department and college systems, policies, and procedures to identify areas of improvement in equity of student access and barriers to retention and completion
  • Facilitate and/or participate in student recruitment and programming activities
  • Coordinate department administrative duties; including event management, front desk coverage, travel arrangements, purchasing, etc.

Communication

  • Promote program and Green River dates, deadlines, events, etc. via multiple communication platforms including Canvas, email, text messaging, TRiO Social Media accounts, TRiO website, and printed materials
  • Collaborate with College Relations and TRiO team to create and maintain marketing, promotional, and informational materials

Data Accuracy, Record Keeping, and Reporting

  • On a scheduled and ad hoc basis
    • Produce and discuss reports with the Director and team to assess program status
    • Perform individual and bulk student record updates
    • Audit student files
    • Solicit, compile, analyze, and present findings of student feedback to Director and team
  • Manage book loan program to include; student communications, inventory management, and request/loan/return processes

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate or higher degree and two years of experience in program support in an office or educational setting OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others of diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to create clear, precise, and effective communications for multiple audiences
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a productive member of a team
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or higher degree and three years of experience in program support in an office or educational setting OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in college student support services office
  • Worked with or have a personal background like that of TRiO SSS eligible students (first generation to college, meeting federal low-income guidelines, and/or have a documented disability)
  • Bilingual in one of the top 5 languages in Green River’s service area: Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Somali, Russian, or Ukrainian
  • Experience with PeopleSoft/ctcLink or similar Student Information System

Working Conditions:
  • Must have the ability to sit for prolonged period of time at a desk/computer workstation

  • Frequent repetitive arm, hand, and finger motions

  • Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screen in performing work assignments

  • Work in an office setting with frequent interruptions and demands on time, while meeting department deadlines

  • May need to carry, lift or move equipment/supplies up to 25 lbs

  • General work schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with a one-hour lunch, occasional pre-scheduled evening and weekend work may be required

  • Eligible for up to 20% remote work
