Position Summary
In this position, you will be responsible for directing project controls support for Alaska Airlines’ North Main Terminal Redevelopment Program at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). You will develop and oversee new or existing policies and procedures to manage compliance, monitor, control, and report the status of projects; monitor and review progress, analyze cost and schedule issues; and recommend action to resolve issues.
The successful candidate will:
- Coordinate project controls staff and project managers to ensure compliance with project/task requirements.
- Assist in the development of standardized project control processes, document control processes, systems, and tools to improve project execution and reporting accuracy.
- Resolve issues and provide consistency between cost control, planning/scheduling, change management, reporting, and estimating functions and deliverables.
- Lead monthly project review status meetings.
- Assist and support project managers with associated project management activities.
- Generate monthly project controls reports based on progress reported in schedules, cost reports, change logs, etc.
- Communicate with the design-build contractor, owners’ representatives, and port leadership regarding schedule and budget and assess potential change order work, etc.
- Coordinate with the project manager and client’s financial consultant in reviewing monthly invoices and paying applicants.
- Assist project managers with contract administration items such as RFIs and submittals.
- Build collaborative relationships with senior organizational leadership and gain trust with stakeholders to foster good relations, secure support, develop resources, drive results, realize project outcomes, manage conflicts, and represent the needs of those stakeholders.
Position Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or a related area is required.
- Eight or more years of experience in project controls is required.
- Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or possession of a similar professional designation would be an asset.
- Three or more years working on aviation-related projects preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and management experience leading program control functions.
- Demonstrated experience in using scheduling software tools, such as Primavera P6, Power BI, and PM Web.
- Highly skilled in direction, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel and the ability to lead without positional authority.
- Highly skilled in oral and written communication, with demonstrated ability to present project controls information to management and customers, including report development for differing levels of management.
- Demonstrated ability to build and grow both internal and external organizational relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in interacting effectively with all levels of external and internal personnel, building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, and construction projects in the aviation industry.
The salary range for this position is $104,000 - $228,800.
A hired employee will be placed within this salary range based on a variety of legitimate business reasons, including but not limited to the individual’s scope of relevant experience and geographic location.
Additional Requirements
Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
