SUMMARY
Reporting to the Formulation Manager & Chief Operations Officer, the Project Coordinator – Quality Assurance (Blending) is responsible to work with the Formulation Team ensuring that premix and blended formulas and production orders are in compliance with AAFCO, FDA, and company formulation quality assurance requirements. Develop effective relationships with clients and ensure project goals are met, inventories are accurate, and conduct effective communication. Works cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Warehouse, and Consignment Teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential and other important responsibility and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Creation and/or verification of feed formulas and formula analysis- Ensure compliance of formula tags with FDA labeling requirements
- Processing of feed formulas in Great Plains and Brill Formulation computer software
- Create and schedule production orders
- Communicate with toll manufacturing customers for formulas, scheduling, raw material requirements, and finished product statistics
- Processing of finished production orders from both the manual and automated blending manufacturing areas to ensure quality requirements are met
- Work cross functionally with bulk and micro ingredient procurement, customer service, consignment team, and blending manufacturing teams
- Work with production supervisors in both blending manufacturing areas to ensure plant policies and procedures are being followed and quality processes are met
- Manage drug log and reconcile drug inventory
- Manage Customer specific raw ingredient & finished product inventories
- Conduct effective communication with customers, production teams, quality assurance, and management
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop effective relationships with nutritionists and customers
- Develop effective working relationships with others in the company through communication, collaboration, and team effort

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & SKILLS
Knowledge of:
- Animal feed business or food related industry – preferred
- Feed formula creation and/or nutrition - preferred
Ability to:
- Works in association with other D&D Departments (Production, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Shipping and Receiving, Customer Service, Consignment Team, and Sales)
- Navigate and use Microsoft Excel & Word
Skills:
Quality Standards: Must be able to understand quality standards, methods and reporting as required.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, and corporate policies/processes.
Communication: Possesses strong communication skills and can explain complex concepts in ways everyone can understand. Is often seen as having strong interpersonal skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field.
- Prior experience in animal feed or food related role preferred
- Ability to multitask as needed
- Understanding of formulation process
- Sound decision making with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of MS Excel and Word
- Formulation package software experience preferred
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: frequent sitting, typing and computer use. Occasional lifting, and or moving over 10 pounds. Constant use of overall vision; frequent reading and close up work.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in office setting and can occasionally be offsite. Work schedule will be standard Monday – Friday and possible for rare weekend hours. Some travel may be required.
