What We're Looking For
We are looking for well-rounded architects with excellent technical and visualization skills and an interest in creating station hubs for sustainable transit networks to join our growing team in Seattle, where we will be opening a new office in the spring. For now, the home base is Bellevue, but the team is focused on projects in Seattle.
Ideal candidates would be team players able to utilize all forms of design communication tools and thrive in an interdisciplinary environment. We exchange ideas with planning, urban design, various engineering disciplines daily, focusing on the creation of a great transit experience for the future of the City of Seattle. We generate architectural solutions for technically complex problems and translate them into easily understood graphics for the team, our agency and city partners, and the public. While working within sometimes challenging urban environments, we search for ways to elevate the passenger experience in people-centered transit systems.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develops and presents lead technical viewpoint on projects and ensures HNTB systems are used to deliver the design in a standardized manner.
- Ensures that a technical solution consistent with the program and design is properly developed and produced. Integrates quality control measures during all phases of design.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on architectural projects of small to medium size and assists on larger projects.
- Works closely with the project designer and manager in planning and implementing all work processes in consideration of budgets and schedules. Work includes preparing work plans, estimating hours to complete tasks, developing project reports, managing consultant team members (including coordination and incorporation of all work products) and reviewing invoices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture
- 5 years related experience
- Revit skills
Essential Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with the Senior Project Manager and Senior Project Architect to implement the work.
- Produces quick explorations with sketch models while remaining focused on the development of an identified solution over a longer duration.
- Works with the team to create design presentations for public consumption and technical documents for the planning and engineering teams
- Creates communication graphics ranging from concept diagrams to 3D views and simple renderings.
- Assists in the coordination of design documents with sub-consultants.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Primary Focus Will Include :
- West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions Station Architecture
- Collaboration with Engineers, Urban Designers, and Planners
- Performing quick explorations with sketch models while remaining focused on the development of an identified solution over a longer duration.
- Working with the team to create design presentations for public consumption and technical documents for the planning and engineering teams
- Creating communication graphics ranging from concept diagrams to 3D views and simple renderings.
- Assisting in the coordination of design documents with sub-consultants.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- 8 years or more of experience with complex, interdisciplinary projects
- Experience with steel and concrete high-rise and mass timber construction
- Other 3D software (Sketchup, Rhino, and/or 3DS Max)
- Clear design communication skills, both spoken and with graphics
- Knowledge of rendering plugins such as Enscape
- Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Eagerness, curiosity, and the ability to connect thoughtful design to the everyday transit experience

The pay range for Washington is $88,601.46 - $138,581.76. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
