Project Director Upward Bound I & Upward Bound II

Position Title: Special Services: Project Director Upward Bound I & Upward Bound II
Department: 2820|Special Services
Responsibilities:
Primarily responsible for overseeing all administrative and supportive services that affect Upward Bound I (UB I) & Upward Bound II (UB II) participants and the project in accordance with the regulations of the U.S. Department of Education and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as well as:
- -Expend Project funds in accordance with the guidelines as approved by the Trio Director
- -Conduct orientation activities, staff development workshops, and preparation for identifying and selecting eligible participants for the programs
- -Assist the Associate Director for Off-Campus Trio Programs and Trio Director in selecting, supervising, training and evaluating staff within the frameworks of the projects’ regulations and policies
- -Attend meetings directly related to the operation of the UB I & UB II Programs
- -Use established criteria to demonstrate project performance for annual federal performance reporting for UB I & UB II proposals and completing reports in response to all Federal and University regulations, guidelines, and policies
- -Ensure the smooth operations of programs
- -Ability to relate well with students, parents, particularly from vulnerable backgrounds, and University personnel
- -Ability to analyze and understand data as it relates to retention and graduation rates
- -Knowledge of collegiate, academic and financial procedures
- -Committed to overseeing and participating in student travel events, travel for Trio training and national Trio advocacy events

Qualifications:
Master’s Degree required (Doctorate preferred) in counseling, educational administration, psychology, communications, social work or related fields. A minimum of seven years of directly related experience working with students from vulnerable backgrounds is also required. Five years of experience in counseling low-income/first-generation students preferred. Experience managing multiple work teams within a large organization and coordinating team activities and working with students from diverse backgrounds. Five years of experience managing a staff and budget comparable to the proposed project preferred. Use established criteria to demonstrate project performance for annual federal performance reporting for UB I & UB II proposals and completing reports in response to all Federal and University regulations, guidelines, and policies.
