1. Managing projects to completion requiring working with multidisciplinary teams, gathering project information, performing engineering calculations, and presenting project results and recommendations.
2. Implementing recommendations by following the site engineering stage-gate process and the PSM MOC process.
3. Providing support to project engineers by assisting with any or all of the following:
- Field walk-downs – Confirming existing pipe routing, elevations, non-process obstructions, civil/structure supports,
- Drawing reviews – Reviewing dimensional information on detail drawings, reviewing code references, reviewing drawings vs. as-built field conditions, etc.
- Interacting with engineering firms and construction contractors – Attending meetings and walking down jobs in the field with engineering firms and construction contractors.
- Coordinating with Operations and Maintenance – Meeting with Operations and Maintenance to ensure project scope meets the customer’s requirements, interacting with Operations and Maintenance during project construction to communicate planned field work.
- Code research – Researching and reviewing applicability and details of engineering code.
- Documenting project progress – Taking and filing pictures of construction progress and documenting construction progress on schedules and drawings.
- Performing library documentation research – Researching equipment library for most up-to-date equipment information, researching drawings for most up-to-date revisions, etc.
4. Assisting in planning and implementation of plant projects.
5. Other duties as assigned by the plant’s Project Engineers.
Successful incumbents will have:
1. Enrolled in an accredited Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering Program, preferably with previous co-op or intern experience.
2. Proficient in basic computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint Excel and Project; Avantis [or other similar work management information systems (WMIS)].
3. Ability to make verbal and written presentations to communicate ideas effectively
4. Expected to effectively communicate with outside vendors and contractors
5. Become knowledgeable in the plant processes, plant specifications, and materials of construction
6. Commitment to fulfill a 7-8 month co-op assignment
