Description:

Our Austin office is looking for a project manager with a strong background in general civil/municipal services such as street, sidewalk, bikeway, trail, drainage, water, and wastewater reconstruction with Central Texas Municipalities. Our preferred candidate will have 8+ years’ experience with an interest in managing project production, design, client management and budget oversight.

A project manager should have experience in the following aspects of project management:

Financial: The PM must demonstrate experience in managing project financials including proposal development, work planning and budgeting, end of month billing and guiding a project to successful completion within given budgetary constraints.

Client: The PM must have experience in effectively managing clients and maintaining good client relationships. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to procure new clients with the support of the team.

Technical: The PM must have technical expertise and demonstrate experience in "thinking on their feet" to solve problems. Furthermore, the project manager must assist in all areas of project design and production including the management and mentoring of production staff.

As a project manager, you will be part of plan production, design administration, project financials and client interactions. You will be expected to manage project details from conception to completion in all aspects of municipal projects, including project scoping and proposals, conceptual design, site layouts, storm water analysis and design, grading and utility design, regulatory permitting process, project closeout and financial project management. Candidate is expected to establish project criteria and standards consistent with the firm's general standards to include the supervision and control of all project activities. Excellent communication and public presentation skills are required. As a project manager you will be expected to lead by example, and mentor staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design management including the management of multidiscipline engineering teams, meeting project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives, assisting with financial forecasting, assignment of tasks and staff mentoring.
  • Individual should be team and detailed oriented, with experience in managing the overall and comprehensive design and engineering design production process, design calculations and drawings, and accustomed to producing high quality work and lead the coordination of work with engineers and other disciplines.
  • Will assist with client management but be the lead with clients in areas of engineering products and deliverables.
  • Oversee the project design and quality assurance.
  • Has a track record of significant involvement in the successful delivery of civil projects for the City of Austin and other Central Texas clients.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ Years of experience
  • BS Civil Engineering
  • Licensed professional engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to quickly obtain
  • Experience managing a team of engineers and designers
  • Effective communication and writing skills
  • Experience working with the City of Austin
