Job Responsibilities
The Staff/Property Accountant will perform banking/cash management, accounts receivable and other accounting duties as directed by the Director, Client Accounting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by positions in this job classification. Not all duties assigned to every position are included, nor is it expected that all positions will be assigned every duty.
Prepare and deliver Financial Statement packages for an assigne.d portfolio of roughly 45 Condominium and/or Homeowners Associations following the quality standards established by FirstService Residential. Verify correctness of information prior to submission.
Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules. Analyze the Balance Sheet, Income Statement and investment reports for each account to ensure accuracy.
Prepare and post journal entries to the General Ledger. Review periodic reports of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and correct errors prior to close of accounting period.
Prepare, review and analyze transactions from Accounts Receivables. Review and analyze Accounts Payable to ensure they have been accurately coded and recorded. Identify, investigate, resolve and/or report on discrepancies.
Prepare the Financial Statement package and submit for review to the assigned Association Manager
Prepare additional financial reports requested by the Client to be included in the Financial Package or provided to the Community Association Manager and/or BOD.
Provide assistance and guidance to Association Management by answering questions regarding monthly Financial Statements and other related matters.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Must maintain regular and punctual attendance to required shifts, meetings, trainings and related employment engagements to support position responsibilities and duties. Any alterations to required schedule must be reviewed and approved, in advance by your supervisor
Practice and adhere to FirstService Residential Global Service Standards.
Conduct business at all times with the highest standards of personal, professional and ethical conduct.
Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
May participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing the work.
Follow all policies and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by Management.
Perform any range of special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
Associate Degree or higher in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and 2 years' experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
Strong understanding of balance sheets, income statements, general ledgers, chart of accounts and journal entries
General Ledger experience
Strong ability to explain financial reports and procedures to Association Managers
Intermediate to Advanced MS Office skills (Outlook and Excel)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate and problem solve
Excellent time management skills
Strong organizational skills
Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Proven attention to detail
Ability to effectively communicate in a variety of settings; orally, verbally and written
Tools & Equipment Used
Computer, mouse, copier/printer, postage machine
